A historic flour mill in northeast Oregon was destroyed in a fire Wednesday morning.
According to the Associated Press, firefighters initially doused a small fire at the at the Pendleton Flour Mill on Tuesday afternoon, however, it reignited at about 4 a.m. Wednesday.
They say the building was soon fully engulfed because of the dry grain stored in the mill.
There were no reports of injuries.

On January 11, 2021, a fire destroyed the Deli Star meat processing plant in Fayetteville, Illinois, according to Meat+Poultry.
On April 30, 2021, a fire broke out at the Smithfield Foods pork processing plant in Monmouth, Illinois.
On July 25, 2021, a fire damaged a Kellogg’s plant in Memphis, Tennessee. According to fire officials, it was accidentally sparked when a malfunctioning conveyer belt sparked a blaze in a rice drying machine.
On July 31, 2021, according to WVTM, the NBC station in Birmingham, Alabama, a fire broke out at Tyson’s River Valley Ingredients rendering plant in Hanceville, Alabama.
On August 23, 2021, a fire broke out at Patak Meat Products in Cobb County, Georgia. In March of 2022, the company said on Facebook that it is still rebuilding.
On September 12, 2021, a fire broke out at the JBS USA beef processing plant in Grand Island, Nebraska. According to Drovers, the nation’s oldest livestock publication, the fire was determined to be from a heater near the roof in the rendering area of the plant.

On the evening of April 13, just after 7 p.m., a 4-alarm fire was reported at the Taylor Farms processing facility in Salinas, California. The facility is a food service production and distribution operation for wholesale salads and shredded lettuce. Because of the threat of combustion from 35,000 pounds of anhydrous ammonia on site, fire officials evacuated the nearby area. The facility was a total loss. Taylor Farms plans to rebuild and reopen the site by spring 2023. No injuries were reported.

A massive fire in a small Minnesota township, about an hour west of Minneapolis, killed 200,000 chickens. The fire started around 10 p.m. on May 28 at Forsman Farms. A barn housing many thousands of chickens was burned to the ground. Forsman Farms is one of the largest egg producers in the country and sells more than 3 million eggs a day. The cause of the blaze is being investigated. No injuries were reported.

those hash browns from Costco are pretty good...simple rehydrating and great for emergency or camping....
day and night, good and evil between Portlandia and Pendelton......as well as about 200 miles roughly.
since we’re on several topics, re Costco....I noticed that in their cheese/sausage/humus areas they carry a bag of small naan....looked really good....be great for a party or just snacking....didn’t buy any because my multiple freezers and fridge are jammed as it is....
I like the regular sized Naan for flatbread pizza. :)
We went to Pendleton to check out the shirt factory about 30 years ago
We should keep a list of foods we can’t find anymore... Canned Walnuts is mine - my birds love ‘em.
