According to the Associated Press, firefighters initially doused a small fire at the at the Pendleton Flour Mill on Tuesday afternoon, however, it reignited at about 4 a.m. Wednesday.

They say the building was soon fully engulfed because of the dry grain stored in the mill.

I’ve lost track of the count, but it must be over 30-35 facilities, by now.

Especially in a flour mill. Wouldn’t you stand watch for a long time after you think you got it out?

How close is this mill to Portland? Maybe Antifa went on a road trip.

Wow, what an inferno.

That looks just like pulverized coal combustion in huge 1,000 MW utility boiler furnaces. Not a surprise because pulverized wheat is pulverized carbon, probably at the same particle size distribution.

My wife has been a member for years and years. She did a lot of the purchasing at our school district at Costco. She just got me a card and my first purchase was their sous vide cooked and pre-sliced steak in a vacuum sealed pouch (kind of like par boiled). You toss a few slices into a frying pan for 60-90 seconds to finish cooking and heat them up. It is amazingly good! Goes great on a salad or sandwich.

Not suggesting this is part of the 'conspiracy' (food processing fires), but it does add to a VERY long list in a short period of time.

Great non-suggestion suggestion.

Flour mill explosions used to be a thing.

My recollection is that you can fill the end of a straw with flour and then forcefully blow it out over an open candle to get a nice demonstration of flour’s flammability.

No more Aunt Jemima, or Uncle Ben for that matter; we had to unperson them and erase their legacies during black history month to end racism, or something.

I like to buy various boutique mill flours when we are traveling. I've gotten some wonderful pancakes and waffles doing that. It's kind of like seeking out good local breweries.

Below are pics of three in our pantry right now. The first one ("Organic & Heirloom" from Treasure-Life Flour Mills) we just picked up a couple days ago in Creston, British Columbia, but I haven't tried it yet. Creston is a huge fruit district (my great grandparents ran a fruit ranch there from 1906 to 1969) and we bought some wonderful Peach Syrup there, too. I had that syrup on a waffle this morning (from the New Hope Mills mix) and it was outstanding.

Hah! Fried spam on white. One of my favorites! You have to fry the spam until you can’t fry it no more, though. The texture of insuffice toy fired spam is unpleasant

Unvetted jihadi from Afghanistan didn’t do it right the first try, so he came back at 4am to finish the job.

210 hot, desolate miles from Portland to Pendleton. Well, it’s desolate once you get past the Columbia Gorge. Columbia River to the north, desert to the south.
