New aerial video shows the scale of devastation caused by an explosion at a house in southern Indiana on Wednesday morning that killed at least three people and damaged as many as 39 homes.
The blast was reported around 1 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Weinbach Avenue in Evansville and had a 100-foot blast radius, officials said, which completely leveled one house where the explosion occurred, split another in half and heavily damaged dozens of others.
Resident Drew Slader, who lived nearby, told local news outlets that he was sitting on his couch when the force of the blast threw him several feet. He shared video from inside his damaged home that showed broken window frames and kitchen cabinets hanging from the wall.
A total of 39 houses were damaged by the explosion, but Evansville Fire Department Chief Mike Connelly said the department has not confirmed how many of the houses were occupied when the explosion happened because 'some were too unstable to enter.'
At least 11 of the 39 homes damaged in the explosion are 'uninhabitable,' Connelly told the Evansville Courier & Press.
'Debris is strewn over a 100-foot radius,' including 'typical construction materials' such as wooden boards, window glass and insulation, Connelly said.
Authorities are continuing their search of area, but Connelly warned there could be more victims.
The identities of the people who died would not be released until the next of kin has been notified, David Anson, chief deputy coroner for Vanderburgh County, told The Associated Press.
Evansville Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Anna Gray said at least one other injury was reported and that victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

EVs don’t blow up they burn.🤔
Well you are creative. I’ll say that. LOL
I think they’re still picking up the pieces.🙄
Looks like it made a crater in the back yard?
Newsmax covered this prior to 7am EST this morning.
Most likely a gas leak.
GPLM! Guinea pig lives matter!
Poor Fifi looks scared. Poor babies.
The house used NG, right?
It would be embarrassing to call it NG when the house was all electric...
“Only a their hairdresser knows.
There is a video on YT of the explosion. It doesn’t look like there is a fireball in the blast. Wouldn’t a NG explosion have a huge fireball and scorch everything around? Why is the ATF involved in the investigation.
Yep corn liquor. Will do that every time.
There doesn't look like there's much blackened debris that would have been burning if it was gas. The lack of burned debris points toward a shock wave explosion.
Tannerite?
Is a good guess. Any video I've seen of Tannerite shows a tremendous blast but no flames, just like the explosive in a vehicle airbag.
I see the (or what I think I see) edge of a 2-3 ’ deep at the center.
Would You be in agreement ?
If so then let’s do a comparison by looking at these:
Well ......... hell.
