New aerial video shows the scale of devastation caused by an explosion at a house in southern Indiana on Wednesday morning that killed at least three people and damaged as many as 39 homes.
The blast was reported around 1 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Weinbach Avenue in Evansville and had a 100-foot blast radius, officials said, which completely leveled one house where the explosion occurred, split another in half and heavily damaged dozens of others.
Resident Drew Slader, who lived nearby, told local news outlets that he was sitting on his couch when the force of the blast threw him several feet. He shared video from inside his damaged home that showed broken window frames and kitchen cabinets hanging from the wall.
A total of 39 houses were damaged by the explosion, but Evansville Fire Department Chief Mike Connelly said the department has not confirmed how many of the houses were occupied when the explosion happened because 'some were too unstable to enter.'
At least 11 of the 39 homes damaged in the explosion are 'uninhabitable,' Connelly told the Evansville Courier & Press.
'Debris is strewn over a 100-foot radius,' including 'typical construction materials' such as wooden boards, window glass and insulation, Connelly said.
Authorities are continuing their search of area, but Connelly warned there could be more victims.
The identities of the people who died would not be released until the next of kin has been notified, David Anson, chief deputy coroner for Vanderburgh County, told The Associated Press.
Evansville Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Anna Gray said at least one other injury was reported and that victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A small bell, a severely damaged wheelchair and 4/5ths of Giancarlo Esposito were recovered at the site.
Or an illegal nat gas hookup.
Explosive diarrhea or COVID
Agree, they cover US news better than any US news org. I especially like their pictures.
It looks like a water heater explosion. Just like one I saw in the 80s.
That picture is what is next to the definition of ‘smithereens’ in the dictionary.
The whole house is gone but the garage remains somewhat. Consequently I think the entire house filled with natural gas, and then it exploded.

In one of the videos, you see a white flash from all the windows a fraction of a second before the house is obliterated. Consistent with a gas leak filling the house, then being ignited by a spark.
Have they blamed it on President Trump yet (the former AND current President)?
My bet is meth cookin' or bomb factory.
Just being silly, I’ve been up for 48 hours (not drugs). Łom
I guess that is disrespectful of the victims but iI is highly possible the BOOM 💥 was drug induced.
Residents of the exploded house were not available for comment
Who knows if they will ever tell us the truth.
We had our propane lines checked and pressure tested in 2018.
Damned energy efficient houses nowdays, don’t let the natural gas leak out to a safe level 😜
Nope. That was NG. Assuredly.
When natural gas migrates underground, the soil can strip the odorant out of it so there is no smell.
From the video the main thrust of the explosion is upwards, which strongly suggests the basement as its source.
No...
This was not a natural gas explosion...
No...
This was not a meth cooking operation...
An explosion of that magnitude can only come from military ordinance.
Think drone strike.
Or Biden terrorists he flew in from Afghanistan? Making pipe bombs to kill American citizens? Whatever they find it’ll probably be a lie. I’m aiming towards pipe bombs.
MSM will tell you this is Trump’s fault.
