Bingo. Why do we need 5 days?
For spinning and lying.
Not so strange. The remedy for a target of a sealed warrant is to petition the Judge who signed it with a request that the agency that applied for the warrant argue why it should remain sealed. This is classically known as an Order to Show Cause, wherein the proponent of Court action is put to the test to show why that action should be upheld. Of course, what is particularly unsatisfying about the process is when you start with a magistrate who appears biased to begin with and then ask him to reverse his own previous decision.
Thanks
Not talking about the process, but rather the same judge that signed the warrant, is also involved in this issue as well. Is that usual?
They won’t.
You mean like they did to the FISA judge?
President Trump, obviously.
As far as I can tell, neither the warrant nor the inventory of what was taken was ever given to President Trump or any of his team. In fact, they sent people to make sure Trump’s attorneys couldn’t enter the house, and they ordered the security cameras turned off.
I guess will now more details as time goes on. But as of now, this looks like a bunch of crooked law officers who are more criminal than the criminals that they profess to chase.
Trump has said that he has the warrant and won’t release it.
Plenty of time to tamper and makes it seem legitimate.
Yes. That is exactly the (theoretical) point: that the judge who presided over the issuance of the warrant reviews challenges to the warrant. It is common for judges to retain jurisdiction over matters once they have been assigned to them, so he would continue to preside over all future litigation pertaining to the warrant.
Why would they have even gone to where he is a judge in the first place, and not to a local one in D.C.? As a Federal Agency, that is where the FBI usually go, especially since the warrant, after all, was issued from the D.C. branch of the FBI.
It doesn’t seem unusual that warrants are obtained from a judge sitting in the place where the warrant is to be executed.
I'm not sure why Trump would want it sealed, but the DoJ might have written in a way to embarrass him if it were public. I think the more interesting document is the probable cause filing.
This move now turns it on Trump. If he wishes it to remain sealed, the judge would surely grant the request. Actually, I think they hope he asks for it to remain sealed.
WP is claiming FBI was looking for nuclear documents. For the love of God these people are insane.
That’s the thing. They could put anything on that search warrant. They could even say they were looking for money from the Lindbergh baby kidnapping. The important document is what they have probable cause for, and how they got it. That sort of information won’t be in the warrant.
