This is the horrific moment an LA driver speeds through a red light before slamming into five cars at an intersection, killing six including an infant and a pregnant woman.
The black Mercedes races past a gas station then smashes into the side of a traffic jam, causing a flaming inferno in the Windsor Hills district.
It sends the vehicles screeching across the street before finally coming to a stop in a mangled wreck just feet away from rows of highly flammable pumps.
The gut-wrenching pile up, between of South La Brea Avenue and Slauson Avenue, killed the pregnant woman, her unborn child and the three-year-old.
Meanwhile seven people have been left fighting for their lives with horrendous injuries following the devastating smash at 1.40pm.

Defensive Driver training courses call it the “3 Second Rule.” The light changes you count to 3 before you move; the car in front of you begins to move you count to 3 before you move.
Braking and slowing down for every intersection is a real problem. So is sitting at a green light for 2 seconds.
No, that’s not at all what I recommended.
2 seconds to look both/all ways...is a ‘real problem’???
Good....then how about YOU don’t do that, then?
🙃
Agree.
See 139.
🙄
Nope. I drive AND clear at the same time. I don’t brake thru every intersection. I can drive defensively AND keep traffic moving. I also watch the intersection when I’m stopped so that I can go as soon as it’s clear.

Who said ANYTHING ‘about braking thru every intersection’?
Again...keep doing what you’re doing. And, stop trying to imply what others are doing.
Take care out there.
I get beeps from people behind me but I don’t care.
I always wondered if people doing that were stupid or selfish.
I'm not saying this is what you recommend, but I see it every day.
Yeah, I saw that, and that is why I decided to post. Some people drive aggressively rather than defensively, and that is what causes accidents.
Yes, but Mr. Hasting’s car crashedd into a tree.
Chrashes into trees or similarly solid objects are the bane of every car safety expert, as these are the most dangerous type of vehiculat crash.
Prayers sent for the victims :-(

That's not the 3 second rule. The 3 second rule is about following distance. If you are the first car in line at a light, you are not following.
Paying attention during the red, then a brief left-right assessment when it turns green is safe. Three solid seconds is just being a jacka$$.
That's not it at all! That has to do with following distance. You stay three seconds behind the car in front of you (at current speeds).
In the Northeast, there is a one second rule. If you fail to move within one second of a light turning green, you will get honked at by the cars behind you.
There is a heavily traveled left turn right before my house. It stays green for 15 seconds. If you sit for 3 seconds before going, you're a selfish prick.
Whether you think of me as a jackass or not affects me not in the slightest.
Thank you for the correction.
But now you know what 3 second rule is.
You are welcome.
