The world is full of suffering. He denutted himself. And maybe the reasons why he did that to himself are also the reasons why he transported cannibis illegally. He took a risk, broke the criminal law of Russia, and now he has to stay in prison. But will Russia imprison him as a man or as a woman? If the former, I am sure he will be meeting some very nasty big Russians who will make him a slave.

Its a really sorry situation all around. As an athlete he let his country down.

I thought for sure when I went to the USSR on a school trip I’d be busted for smuggling in copies of Kafka.

Our game was Playboy. Picked up a couple copies in Finland before catching a train to Russia. Guards found it in our heating register right away. I suspect that "bust" went unreported and they eventually kept them for themselves. They put a nice scare into me though. I still made a nice profit on blue jeans and mix tapes.
