Since the early 2000s, Tehran’s construction of gas centrifuge uranium enrichment facilities has been the main source of proliferation concern. Gas centrifuges enrich uranium by spinning uranium hexafluoride (UF6) gas at high speeds to increase the concentration of the uranium-235 (u-235) isotope. Such centrifuges can produce both low-enriched uranium (LEU), which can be used in nuclear power reactors, and highly enriched uranium (HEU), which is one of the two types of fissile material used in nuclear weapons. Tehran asserts that its enrichment program is meant to produce fuel for peaceful nuclear reactors.

Does anyone believe these statements except for feeble minded ideologues, considering how much oil and natural gas Iran has and the rigorous commitment not to realistically interpret data? As in Iraq, Israel will have to enforce the UN nuclear non-proliferation regime.

“Tehran asserts that its enrichment program is meant to produce fuel for peaceful nuclear reactors.”

“U.S. officials expressed confidence in the ability of both the IAEA and the U.S. intelligence community to detect an Iranian breakout attempt using either Tehran’s IAEA-monitored facilities or clandestine facilities.”

Well, the mullahs have to test one first.

Can’t hide a nuclear explosion.

Then you got to put it atop a delivery system.

When iran is threatening to turn NYC into a ruined wasteland, I don’t think they intend to do it with peaceful use of nuclear power. Given these transparent threats, how can anyone in the media or government even pretend to not know Iran’s intentions?

Ukraine, Syria, and Libya all gave up their nuclear weapons programs. And all of them regretted it when the US or Russia later invaded them.

Hate to say but if I was the Iranian government I would not at all be planning on giving up my nukes.

Do you think maybe Iran could use warhead designs developed by the Russians or Chinese?

“Do you think maybe Iran could use warhead designs developed by the Russians or Chinese?”

Sure, but you must test the first few to see if the design works. Everyone will know you just lit off a nuke.

Then you have to figure out the delivery system particulars.
