When power trips collide.
Professionalism usually requires that he feds notify the local cops when they are active in an area so there are no misunderstandings. In this case the ATF guy appears not to have had a warrant, so he is on weak legal ground to be harassing people like that.

The idiot should have cooperated and offered to show his ID from the start. The cops had no way of knowing who he was. Instead he chose to start a d*ck measuring contest which he lost.

It's not up to you to prove you're complying with the law, it's up to them to prove that you broke the law.
We have the right to not self-incriminate. That means that we don't have to answer the police's "show me your gun" request if they don't have a warrant to inspect the gun.

You might get a good laugh at this one. It’s related to the story you talked about on the radio with Bill last week.

That is great video. Great! The Columbus cops did things right.
Also, I thought ATF agents are supposed to wear clothes that identify themselves as ATF officers. Or is that just on TV shows?

So, what kind of retribution can the homeowner expect from the ATF now?

This is so damned funny. That ATF agent is such an arrogant bully bastard. I hope the man who called the police is going to be okay.

The police officers’ demand for this guy to get on the ground was unconstitutional? If I wasn’t clear, that’s who I was talking about.

Did the cop have probable cause to believe that a crime had been committed? (NO, not having read the whole account.) The cop was completely out of line. No warrant, no look.

True, but he didn’t have a warrant. You have no duty to allow an illegal search.

Thereās a legal breakdown at 56. But, apparently thereās a high number a firearms that need to be collected after being sold. The app is not always complete when the firearm is sold. If information comes up and the firearm needs to be returned, an ATF agent is sent out to retrieve it
