Fans Getting Ripped Off By Conmen, Then Hit With Parking Tickets
CBS Chicago ^ | January 24, 2022 | Dave Savini and Michelle Youngerman

Conmen have been ripping off fans outside Chicago sports venues for years. Posing as parking attendants, they lure in drivers, take their cash, and often guide them into illegal parking spots. Those fans later find parking tickets from the city on their cars.

Nothing stopped the men we uncovered running an illegal parking scam - not even the different teams of officers patrolling the city streets outside Guaranteed Rate Field. The scammers are so bold they continued preying on White Sox fans - selling fraudulent parking passes last season, right in front of authorities.

What happened was a bit different from other schemes. As he approached the official White Sox parking lots, around Pershing Road and Princeton Avenue, several men wearing bright colored vests approached his car. They appeared to be parking attendants and asked Chessare for $30 to park.

"One of the three actually stood in front of our car and blocked us," said Chessare. "The guy had a big wad of tens. A big wad of tens."

He said one conman waved him in just like a legitimate parking attendant.

Then go ahead and rob him. Who is he going to complain to?

"This is one of the reasons why Benjamin Franklin and John Adams said democracy/freedom only works where the people are bound by a moral code."
Not just any moral code, but that of religion, ,
we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. (From a letter Adams wrote on 11 October 1798 to the officers of the First Brigade, Third Division, of the Massachusetts Militia).ion of the Militia of Massachusetts,” October 11, 1798)

Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible for their only law book and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited. . . . What a Eutopia – what a Paradise would this region be! (Diary Entry, February 22, 1756; http://www.revolutionary-war-and-beyond.com/john-adams-quotes-1.html)
Benjamin Franklin
(1706—1790. One of the Founding Fathers; leading thinker; author; printer; statesman; postmaster; diplomat, and a non-Christian deist)...serious religion, under its various denominations, is not only tolerated, but respected and practiced. Atheism is unknown there; Infidelity rare and secret; so that persons may live to a great age in that country without having their piety shocked by meeting with either an Atheist or an Infidel. And the Divine Being seems to have manifested His approbation of the mutual forbearance and kindness by which the different sects treat each other, and by the remarkable prosperity with which He has been please to favor the whole country. (Benjamin Franklin, "Information to those who would Remove to America"

LOL! No wonder the Chisox were BO’s favorite team. The ‘hood didn’t want to lose their prey and its attractant.

Very true as to religion...and Christianity specifically.

I think the Founding Fathers often referred to "virtue" and "morality" without mentioning religion because "Freedom of Religion" was one of the Rights and they didn't want to sound coercive.

That said, even the term "Judeo/Christianity" isn't really true in that without Christianity, Judaism wouldn't have the worldwide influence that it now has.

Basically, our "free country" is founded on Christianity and this is held to be true even by our Founding Fathers, some of whom were just deists or Christians in name only.

The problem this country now has is that a major part of it is secular-humanist and has a different set of rules (if any). The danger isn't that it will collapse, but that it will evolve into something dangerous for the entire world. The Swamp (or The Beast as I think of it lately) makes Nazi Germany look like a small town schoolyard bully.

As I have said elsewhere when I say the Swamp has become The Beast, I don't necessarily mean to refer to The Beast of Revelation. But, then, if the shoe fits...

I worked at a company that went bankrupt. The company that bought us did not buy the fenced admin building with a big parking lot. The property was basically in legal limbo. Two guys I worked with went there early on Mardi Gras day and put up parking signs. They charged people $20 to park. They made a killing.

True but the current prevailing thinking is that guys like franklin and adams were racists so the nation they helped to found needs to be destroyed. Disintegration of our cities and nation will continue. When that will stop is anyone’s guess.

getting your car back after a tow is a nightmare in that city.

the city doesn’t charge tolls(’cept the chicago skyway - which richie daley sold to a private outfit)...the state does.
The state no longer has toll collectors or change baskets...pay online.
