Mysterious holes discovered on ocean floor puzzle experts, spawn aliens theory

There are holes in their knowledge regarding these mysterious ocean-bed perforations — so experts are asking for help.

Scientists have been left flabbergasted over a series of mysterious holes discovered this week at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration posted photos of the underwater formations on Facebook and Twitter, where sea-savvy social media users have postulated that they could be everything from “wormholes” to “aliens.”

“Okay Facebookers, time to get out those scientist hats!” the NOAA declared in a statement regarding the pits, which are located 1.7 miles below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean near the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. This remote region is the world’s longest mountain range, stretching 10,000 miles from the northern to southern points of the body of water.

Accompanying photos show the perplexing holes, which are aligned perfectly on the sediment of the ocean floor.

“On Saturday’s #Okeanos dive, we observed several of these sublinear sets of holes in the sediment,” NOAA described of the Atlantis-esque perforations. “These holes have been previously reported from the region, but their origin remains a mystery.”

The ocean is the least known thing in the world.

We know more about the moon and they find freaky stuff down there every time they go looking around.

/bets it was the Kraken, line dancing

Very interesting. The holes are actually slits, but the debris piles are circular. They’re fairly evenly spaced but don’t run a long ways.

What about the shielded rifle barrel? What is it doing under water?

Yes it has to be a creature or escaping gases.

Right now I haven’t a clue but give me a $billion research grant and I’m sure I can come up with a theory!

There must be fluid flow through the holes. Analyze the contents and determine if CH4 is involved or any other hydrocarbon. Perhaps you’ll find the reason for climate change.

From the article...
“Gases such as methane and hydrogen sulfide can build up in sediments and carbon dioxide seeps are common,” said Professor Elliott. “These all leave pockmarks, but they are not usually as regular as these.”

So there, they admit it is just an unusually regular pattern from gas seepage. Nothing more IMHO. Still strange, the MId Atlantic Ridge is a volcanic area so it could be SO2 or CO2.

Humm. Pretty regular holes.

Somebody will do an analysis of the photographs and then we'll know just how 'regular' they are. The photo is taken from an angle that makes it difficult to judge. Even so, it's roughly a straight line which is interesting in itself.

Well, I have to back off my speculation that it was a deliberately placed ASW array. 850 meters, about 1/2 mile is about the deepest a miltary submarine get! (Oscar class...Russia.)

Well, there is still the Submarine pressure lock entry to the Tom Swift underwater laboratory!

Isn't this old news? The waters came up from the deep and the rains came down...

Genesis 7:10-12

10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
