Yep, as soon as those 60 gazillion AMP 16 ounce batteries they’ve been perfecting hit the market.

Battery fire at 35,000 ft. No thank you.maybe that's what happened to TWA 800.

Electric cars work because they accelerate and deaccelerate while capturing the energy. Planes, not so much. They are constantly on and turning the prop.

The first rollouts for a major airline—with United—are due in 2026, and countries like Denmark and Sweden have announced plans to make all domestic flights fossil fuel–free by 2030.
LOL No way. It takes years just to new part design for an airplane just to get it thru the FAA!
To: Red Badger
No thanks !
How about an airborne fire that cannot be extinguished?
I just saw a photo of an electric transit bus that burned to the ground. Its fire could not be extinguished.
Only a fool would ride inside an electric plane. It could not land fast enough during a fire-in-the-air emergency. Everybody gets cooked alive before it crashes.
To: ProtectOurFreedom
Also, unlike current planes, the landing weight of an electric plane will be the same as the takeoff weight.

Denmark and Sweden have announced plans to make all domestic flights fossil fuel–free by 2030. How do they plan to power up those flights w/o fossil fuel?
With wind power?

Battery fire at 35,000 ft.
No thank you.

And unlike jet fuel, there would be no way to do an emergency jettisoning of the battery in case of emergency. Even if the battery could be dropped, like an external pod, it would have the same effect hitting the ground like a concrete kinetic bomb.

Environmental virtue signaling with electric planes is the pinnacle of stupidity. First, there’s nothing green about. Second, there’s nothing efficient about it.

There are so many questions. Like what do you do if control tells the planes not to land for a while and they have to circle the airport?
This is not anti-EV. My wife and I like both our EV and our ICE car. And we like our solar on our house. Just call me skeptical of electric planes before a lot of questions are answered.
