On his podcast, Joe Rogan strongly defended same-sex marriage, skewering Republicans as "homophobic" and profanely declaring that anyone who calls him a conservative has no idea what they're talking about.
On the Saturday episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience," the comedian and massively successful podcast host pushed back against critics who have accused him of being a "secret conservative," citing GOP opposition to gay marriage as one of many reasons he is not, nor has ever been, a Republican.
“It’s not just abortion rights, but now they’re going after gay marriage too, which is so strange to me,” Rogan said while interviewing comedian Andrew Schulz. He brought up how Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) reportedly said he will not vote in favor of a bipartisan bill that would codify same-sex marriage into federal law to protect that right from being revoked by the Supreme Court.
Lawmakers have put forward a bill that would ban state governments from recognizing the traditional definition of marriage in what supporters argue is a needed protection for marriage equality. But some Republicans say the bill is unnecessary because the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in 2015 and no one reasonably thinks the court will reverse that decision. Rubio reportedly called the bill a "stupid waste of time."
"Marco Rubio is saying that it’s like a silly thing to argue about, to be concerned about, and some other senator, a gay woman, confronted him and she was furious at it. 'Cause gay marriage is not silly, it’s marriage. It’s marriage for people that are homosexual and for them it’s important," Rogan said, referring to reports that Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.) confronted Rubio about his opposition to the bill.
“Gay marriage is not silly. It’s marriage — it’s marriage from people that are homosexual and it’s, for them, it’s important. They want it," Rogan continued. “They want to affirm their love and their relationship. And the fact that they’re going after that now almost makes me feel like they want us to fight. They wanna divide us in the best way they can. And this is the best way for them to keep pulling off all the bulls*** they’re doing behind the scenes is to get us to fight over things like gay marriage or get us to fight over things like abortion. It’s just like, why are you removing freedoms?”
"Yes," Schulz said. "If you are gonna say that marriage is an important cultural institution to the fabric of America, you can’t remove it from Americans."
“It’s so homophobic,” Rogan declared. “Because you’re saying there’s something wrong with being homosexual by saying that you are opposed to gay marriage. You’re saying you’re opposed to gay people.”
Rogan went on to list a series of benefits enjoyed by married people, explaining how he believes gay people should both have the right to have their love legally recognized and have hospital visitation rights, as well access to financial incentives tied to marriage.
"The fact that they’re going after that now, like that’s the kind of s*** that keeps me from being a Republican. It’s only one of the kind of — there’s a bunch of s*** that keeps you from being a Republican," Rogan said.
"People will say like, ‘Oh, you know, you’re a secret conservative.’ Like you can suck my d***. You don’t know what the f*** you’re talking about. I’m so far away from being a Republican. Just because I believe in the Second Amendment and just because I support the military and just cause I support police," he continued.
"Like I was on welfare as a kid. I think it’s important. I think having a social safety net is crucial. We should help each other. We’re supposed to be one big community. I’m a bleeding-heart liberal when it comes to a lot of s***,” Rogan emphasized.
A safety net is one thing.
Welfare is not a safety net.
It’s a family and society destroyer.
Yes, people should help each other…… if they want to. It should NEVER be mandated nor given over to the government to do.
“Rogan was never a conservative, he just wasn’t a lock step leftist.”
Exactly. This whole thing is just another lib ‘Rat trick to provoke the overreaction that they got out of him.
Rogan is a dilletante and non Christian
He’s a good interviewer though
Let’s people talk
I never liked Joe Rogan ever since I read what Katrine Wallace, PhD, said about him, along with 270 physicians and scientists.
Anyone that claimed or asserted that Rogan was a conservative was/is delusional and should have long put the crack pipe down.
And I don’t give a sh*t about same sex marriage other than actual marriage was about a man and a woman and their ability to procreate. Let me know when two same sexes are able to procreate.
No, it is not. Hate to break it to you, Joe, but two people of the same sex cannot be husband and wife. Even if you don't want to believe the Biblical account of what marriage is and why it was created, there is zero debate it was an institution formed because of biology. Reality, Joe. Has nothing to do with "homophobia" or whatever other ridiculous label you want to put on it to avoid discussing the issue intellectually.
Great ... another one not to watch!
“Government” got in the marriage business in the feudal era, to legiitimize bloodlines.
The federal and state governments gt involved, for the same reason that birth and death records are kept. Yet, there came that Olld Crow stuff when marriages started being interracial, not only bbblack, buut Injun, too!
Heck, why should tje government be involved in marriage at all, since marriage, for the most part, is a religiious rite?
Who said that?
“It’s so homophobic,” Rogan declared. “Because you’re saying there’s something wrong with being homosexual by saying that you are opposed to gay marriage. ***You’re saying you’re opposed to gay people.***”
There is proof he is no conservative.
Typical leftist thinking.
He’s so wrong.
Coming to a conclusion divorced from facts of conservative thinking.
It’s Biblical facts that deny marriage by two people of the same sex.
Only Christians can know that for a certainty.
Because of God’s decrees.
Period.
God loves everyone and He wants us all to seek him and study to show ourselves approved.
IOW, change the things we believe to conform to God’s image.
No.
He is not the fill in for Rush Limbaugh.
The Clay Teavis and Buck Sexton Show has taken Rush’s time slot on radio.
Two Conservatives.
Rogan is not a conservative.
Let’s see,

Yeh, I care what Joe Rogan thinks.
Exactly.
“Look honey, we aren’t married until the State of Virginia sends us a receipt.”
Give me a break.
Rogan wants back into the club that kicked him out for supporting Invermectin.
Sorry, Joe, you have been sent to Siberia like the rest of your comrades that dared question the party narrative.
I recall Dr Phil, the TV psychologist, once saying something like “the best situation for a child to grow up in is with both biological parents”.
I agree. It therefore seems only logical that the biological parents should be bound together by some sort of legal contract for the benefit of their children. In other words, marriage.
And people must be really careful who they choose to have sex with.
Further, I believe that the most important task of any community is bringing up their children well - otherwise that community will soon be in trouble.
Which reinforces the need for their biological parents to be married.
And I would go even further. I think that, contrary to popular belief, marriage is for the benefit of the children, not the couple.
A wigged out druggie. He can’t keep any coherent, consistent thoughts for more than a few minutes due to being doped up all day long.
Rogan, is a pot smoker as an identity. He’s in another world, a world where things make sense to him only because he’s high on weed. The brain works differently when you’re high all the time, stuff makes sense to you that normally would not.
When the definition of you is down to what you do with your peepee you may be a deviant.
Joe wants it both ways. He wants to be liked by the Hollywood Homos and be in favor of some conservative ideas. He will have to choose which is more important to him, the second amendment or gay marriage, abortion or free speech. He has to decide what is more important to him.
WHO THE HELL EVER thought he was a Conservative????
Joe is an atheist and that is what prompts his beliefs on this. His podcast is good when he has interesting guests. Too often though he has comedians and MMA fighters and they tend to be boring.
