The deciding factor for me happened on June 30th when I was released from my alimony obligation, that would've kept me working until 65. I've been financially able to retire for the past 5 years now. The ex wouldn't let go, she finally did.

When she came to my home after not seeing or talking to her for five years, informed me she was terminating spousal support and then told me I should retire, I've worked too hard for too long, it set me on the path to working with my financial planner to make it happen.

Joe Biden and every G-D Democrat there is just drove me over the edge. You thieving bastards will not get one more cent from me. You can shove your socialism right up your blue smurf candy asses.

I'm done. Thank God.

I’m 59 years old. I cannot wait to be done with this crap. Biden and every G-D idiot who voted for him can kiss my dirty lily white ass.

It’s good to escape from being an income tax slave having to spend ~30% of your time at work in financial slavery to the US government.

Tax wise you are better off quitting mid year rather than working a full year.

There’s nothing wrong with that.
Enjoy your retirement, just have a hobby.

I spent most of my life on the East coast but have been in Missouri a couple of times for a total of 13-14 years and noticed something. When dems are in power, the people with money here, stop spending. The whole economy slows down here. A bit of a general strike in a way.

Glad to hear you’re free to retire. Hope the pain getting there is forgotten in cool breezes on sunlit loungers. When it gets too much for me, I cut down my news reading until I can handle it again. Calm and happy will let you have a longer retirement.

Completely understand. Stayed with me present (not ex) and have wonderful children. Have to keep working to avoid SS penalty for early retirement. Share your sentiments beyond your comprehension.

Why even go to you retire to pay for the sins of uncle sam. The youth should stop working and being a slave to pay for the entitlements of the past and the spending for ukraine and the rest of the world.

Where I was working shut down unexpectedly in late November. It was sort of a “semi retirement” job anyway. I just decided that was it. I don’t have to work and don’t want to.

I’m 70, have worked in IT since 1978. I’m planning to retire 12/31/2022.
The government still hits you up for taxes. You financial advisor can plot it out for you.

I’m still trying to figure out what I’ll do after retirement.

Congratulations, your post made my day.

In the age of ‘feminist supremacy’ alimony shouldn’t exist.(Neither should child support)

Women are equal.

Why do they need a hand out from their former spouse?

Its amazing how much favoritism the female gender has acquired since 1964. Its mind boggling.
