Kyler Murray’s new contract has a homework clause

Posted on 07/25/2022 2:40:46 PM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

The Kyler Murray contract has become official. And it officially contains a term that one source with extensive knowledge of player contracts has deemed to be unprecedented.

The deal requires that Murray engage in at least four hours of “Independent Study” during each week of the season, from the Monday after training camp ends through the last game on the schedule, including any postseason games.

If you have to pay somebody to do something odds are they aren’t going to stick with it.

Why would any organization want a player who has to be coerced to study?
Sounds like they are planning to unload him because he will not study.

I remember Vick well. I live outside Philly.
A lot of people here were pissed when the Eagles signed him.
Jock sniffers didn’t care though.

I’ve heard of scores as low as 9, but that’s defensive lineman territory. QBs are supposed to do better.

9? Ouch....

But yes, QB’s need something beyond raw athleticism

Russell Wilson also is a fanatic about workouts and study. I am thinking Kyler has hit his peak. It is hard to make someone care enough to work out and study. You either have it, or you do not.

You can do great in your rookie year when NFL teams haven’t figured you out yet, but once they do, if you cannot adjust, you’re toast.

I think he is a raw talent, but just like Vick and that ilk, undisciplined and maybe un-coachable.....

I thought Vick won the admiration of the Dog Fighters of America.

Kyler Murray has always been known as a guy who pays his dues in the film room.

No. I don’t know Kyler Murray personally, but I watched him through his college career at Oklahoma.

Actually he’s a hard worker, fast learner, good teammate and obviously a freak athlete.

I suspect he might tend to the woke side, which would be most unfortunate.

Oh yeah, not only was he the GOAT QB at Oklahoma, his high school team didn’t lose a single game with him starting at QB, from the 10th grade on.

I wish him the best and hope that in time he’ll outgrow the woke hsit.

“He’s gone full retard and likes keepin’ it real.”

That is the perfect response. I wish I had thought of it.
