University of Michigan medical students walk out of pro-life speaker's keynote address at White Coat Ceremony

Dozens of incoming University of Michigan Medical School students walked out of a pro-life keynote speaker’s address, after a previous petition to get the speaker removed failed.

Shortly after Dr. Kristin Collier, a pro-life assistant professor of medicine at UMMS, took to the stage Sunday to address the new students at their White Coat Ceremony, several dozen people got up from their seats and headed for the auditorium doors, video of the ceremony showed.

Collier’s speech was not expected to focus on abortion, but some students petitioned the school weeks prior to remove her as the keynote speaker over her support for the unborn.

The petition to remove Collier, who is also the director of the UMMS Program on Health Spirituality & Religion, was ultimately denied by the school’s dean, Dr. Marschall Runge.

In his decision, he expressed the "critical importance of diversity of personal thought and ideas, which is foundational to academic freedom and excellence," according to the report.

If I ran a hospital or other facility, I would play hoops with their resumes and the trash can.

I would have low confidence that a activist Leftist doctor would treat me well, should she discover I was a Republican.

“Dox and hound them online and in person. It’s what the left has introduced as the new rules of the game.”

Yes. This.

They knew who the speaker was going to be so this was clearly staged by “feministas’!

The Hippocratic Oath - which they took when receiving their white coats - does say: “Into whatsoever houses I enter, I will enter to help the sick, and I will abstain from all intentional wrong-doing and harm, especially from abusing the bodies of man or woman...” I would think that sucking a baby out of a pregnant woman is doing harm. I would rescind the med school slots for those who walked out since they have no intention of honoring their oath.

"They’re unfit to be physicians."

Agree, but fit enough to euthanize baby humans, apparently.

“Euthanize” usually refers to an intentionally “painless” way of killing someone. Abortionists prefer methods like dismemberment with a dull knife.

Medical students upset over restrictions on murder?

These fairies will walk out on a bad diagnosis and refuse to help white people.

Who needs them. Do I want a child killer operating on my heart? Let me die.

Saw a hilarious episode of Seinfeld yesterday where Jerry forces Elaine to enquire of her new attractive boyfriend and everyone else she knows on their beliefs on abortion since she is so strongly pro baby murder. She has to dump her boyfriend and other friends because they oppose her thinking.

It occurs to me they couldn’t make that episode these days.

I am absolutely ashamed of these young people. They will make terrible doctors if they can’t tolerate hearing differing opinions or even recognize that the motto of the medical doctors is “Do No Harm”. I bet these same students would be glad to not treat the elderly to save the planet from the so called scam, climate change. Folks...this country is in deep, deep trouble.

Dozens out of how many? How many dozens? No basics required for journalism anymore, but not a surprise. It would’ve been more newsworthy if the entire audience left, but it looks as though most stayed so the article is just some “reporter’s” dig at the speaker and pro-life in general.

Those who walked out are allowed to have their own opinions, but they are cowards for not allowing themselves to see another POV. Prayerfully that will change.

It’s the hippocratic oath they don’t understand. Neither the “reproductive health” professionals, nor the genital mutilators... the institutions should bounce the students where they can finish their degrees offshore and go forth to careers testing skat skate samples for a living.

Doctors should heal, not kill. Of course there’s a lot of money to be made in abortion, so they conveniently block their minds from thinking that they’re killing a baby.

Sickening, absolutely sickening!

And one would think that a medical school’s application process would have screened out those who want to murder babies

At least it was just the students. At the (ostensibly Catholic) Georgetown University in 2005 or so, a Catholic bishop from Africa gave the graduation speech about holy living and traditional marriage, and most of the female faculty got up from the stage and walked out.

It is time for folks to recognize that their physicians may not hold the same values as their patients.

Asking about Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine has cleared up any doubts for many of us.
