Pennsylvania won't certify May 2022 primary election results in three counties

Pennsylvania has not certified the results of its May 17 primary election in three counties due to lingering legal disputes over the counting of mail-in ballots.

Berks, Fayette and Lancaster counties have become embroiled in litigation challenging the counting of such ballots on which the voter did not write the date, according to the Pennsylvania Department of State.

The state last week sued the three counties, aiming to force them to count mail-in ballots without handwritten dates, the Associated Press reported.

Fayette County asserts that the state lacks the authority to compel the counting of the disputed ballots and highlights that Pennsylvania missed the deadline for it to appeal the county election board's decision.

Disputes over mail-in ballot counting have persisted in the state since the 2020 presidential election. Then-President Donald Trump lost the state by a narrow margin, but challenged the results alleging voter fraud in the mail-in ballot counting. Trump was ultimately unsuccessful in his efforts, but Republicans statewide have pushed for stronger election integrity measures since then.

All three counties facing state legal action lean Republican and broke for Trump in 2020.

Judges in Commonwealth Court and the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals previously rule that ballots lacking handwritten dates are valid, though the appellate court's ruling awaits a hearing before the Supreme Court, the wire service also reports.

The RINO-controlled legislature refused to enforce voter ID, rolled over and allowed non-legislative entities to create the cheat-by-mail-in ballots, and did nothing to stop the counting of the cheat-by-mail-ins for nearly a week after Election Day. RINOs would rather have a Rat win than for 'their' party to be taken over by MAGA.

A rat infested court, no doubt. Who else, but a rat, would consider a missing date to be a valid date.

This!!!
And don’t forget they also redrew confessional districts while RINO GOP allowed it to happen.
What good is controlling the Pa House and Senate if the feckless Pa GOP gets rolled constantly & has NO spine to fight back!!!
I’m 56 yo and a lifelong Pa resident conservative Republican and they CONSTANTLY let me, and folks like me, DOWN!!!!!
Pennsylvania Republicans are pathetic!!!!!

That sickens me. Why make laws if some can be ignored at will when it benefits them to do so???

What I like about the Texas system. We never relaxed requirements for absentee ballots (by mail). We created the early voting system in the late 1980’s. Early voting in person is available to all Texas voters. The great thing is that we get the results from early voting promptly at poll closing time on election day. A huge chunk of the vote is reported at 7:00pm. Usually everything is tabulated by about 10:30.
