Ticket prices for Bruce Springsteen’s shows are angering some fans

(CNN) - Paying for some Bruce Springsteen tickets these days may be “Tougher Than The Rest.”

That’s because Ticketmaster’s “dynamic pricing” has some seats reaching $4000 to $5000 a seat.

The high prices are not going over well.

“I’m sure you won’t see this @springsteen but you or your management need to have a word with the abhorrent criminals running @Ticketmaster who are charging exorbitant amounts to see you in concert,” one person tweeted. “Please listen to your fans, nobody can afford these ridiculous ticket prices.”

Writer John Semley tweeted that Springsteen should “write a song about a working man refinancing his car and home to purchase bruce springsteen tickets.”

“i got a sixty-nine chevy /with a three-ninety-six fuelie heads /and a hurst on the floor/i had to sell it to go see the Boss at the Wells-Fargo Center,” he suggested as lyrics.

Stevie Van Zandt, “The Sopranos” star and a member of Springsteen’s E Street Band, responded to the uproar by tweeting in part “I have nothing whatsoever to do with the price of tickets.”

**SNIP**

Prices started around $60 for some of the seats furthest from the stage.

I suppose I don’t understand the point of complaining to the general public about the price of a ticket. If you think it’s too expensive, don’t go. Pay your rent with the money you saved, or give it to an animal shelter.

My husband and I are going to a concert on Tuesday evening. The tickets were $15 each.

Ten million dollars for the horse? Just think, he could have bought 30 of the new Cadillac EV Sedans. With 30 of them, his ‘virtue’ level would be through the roof.

He’s The Boss of the virtue signalers, now.

After “Nebraska” he went full potato on social issues.

A long way from sleeping under the boardwalk, he is, perhaps the guilt of now sleeping on a massive pile of hundred dollar bills while the characters in his songs can’t afford food or gas.

Back in 1980/1981, I made three trips to Asbury park in the winter, just to photograph the ruins.

I really enjoyed the abject solitude of a gaudy yet dead resort town, filled with broken historical amusement parks.

And I managed to drive all the highways/streets and roads mentioned in the songs, just because I felt like it.

But then he “turned” and left me behind.

When I was in the military in the early 80s, you could tell pretty reliably what part of the country they were from by the music they played.

People from the Deep South played Lynyrd Skynyrd. West Coasters played Van Halen. Mid-Westerners played Journey. Folks from the Northeast played Springsteen and those from Texas played ZZ Top.

You’ll think I’m mad [everyone does, anyway] but I lurked around the SP on my pilgrimages to try and catch Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.

One of the most incredible things I experienced was a cover band at the now-gone Park Place.

They did The Moody Blues better than The Moody Blues did.

It was incredible.

Never got to see Southside Johnny though, but during a “dramatic shoot” on one of the stone jetties in front of the old convention center, I was knocked off and nearly washed out to sea by a surprise wave.
In December.
So cold.

In a magazine article I read back in 1980, but I guarantee you will never find anywhere again, he laughed about going to the draft office pretending to be a flaming homo to get out of Nam.

It worked.

I had a ticket stub for a Springsteen concert in South Jersey from 1973 at Glassboro College. (Rowan College now I believe.) Price on the Stub is 3 dollars.

I’m right there with you. I liked maybe one of his songs, but no others, and I hate him as a person. Bleeech. As you say, “You couldn’t pay me”.

If I were not aware of their politics I MIGHT consider paying $100 to see The Eagles. But I am aware of their politics, so... no.

My sis did some glass work over at cap center (I think)...

That night was SS and the 9th street whatevers. The manager had my sister seated practically front row center as a complimentary for the glass work and design, she was impressed, but she liked Queen MUCH better🙄

Me... older Step brother got me into jazz, I sort of missed all but the big in your face, all over the airwaves bands.
