I think Tesla is fine. At about half the price.
Even if they catch on fire after locking you into the car? I think I will pass.
I observe and post a finding. I do not endorse EV’s.
I do however have the greatest respect for Elon Musk and his three Giga plants capable of pouring out millions of Tesla vehicles per year. His pickups are already presold by thousands before actual production has started. Elon Musk ranks with the very greatest American industrialists.
First. EV’s and Teslas will not eliminate internal combustion engines in America. Elsewhere is a different story especially for automobiles.
All the objections raised here are historical and not applicable to current Tesla production. The EV disruption is already a fact in China and in Norway. Both are different than here. With the maturation of the Tesla Giga plant in Germany, and the announced $9k lowering of price, there will be large Tesla sales gains in Europe. BMW and VW are actually threatened
Tesla is not the sales leader in China but is near that threshold with a Chinese manufacturer currently in the lead. The influence of very large scale population lockdowns is difficult to evaluate. From China, Tesla has a tremendously large Asian and Pacific rim market. Far greater than the USA
So, with GM and Ford continuously losing market share and unable to compete, these Deeetroit/UAW giants are in for a lot of existential trouble.
My point is that the existing competition is not capable of turning the rising Tesla tide
