EMAIL SNAKE Officers shoot massive 15-foot pet snake that was coiled around man's neck

Police in Upper Macungie Township, Pennsylvania said an officer shot a man's pet snake after it wrapped itself around his neck and would not let go.

Police said they asked the dispatcher to repeat the call because it was so unusual. Nickischer said the snake did not die right away.

"It wasn't like it just died. It started to slither away, luckily away from the officers, away from the direction that they were trying to pull this gentleman." Lt. Nickischer said. "They realized it was a matter of life and death with seconds to make that decision. Praise the officers. They did what they had to do. It was a safe shoot."

Toilet snakes are bad too. But email snakes are the worst.

I have always wondered how you shoot for center of mass on a snake.

One of my customers in Florida had multiple Burmese pythons. The big female was well over 10 ft. She had a nasty, snorting disposition. The 8 ft male was more docile. Like your neighbor, my customer was 6 ft 5 in. Former Marine.

My male Burmese python started at 18 inches and was 5 ft a year later. My wife was dangling a medium size rat in the snake's terrarium when it latched onto her hand between the thumb and index finger. I lifted the snake out of the terrarium and gently unhooked the teeth from my wife's hand. That was her line in the sand. We found a new home for "Monty" with a childless couple experienced in handling pythons.

So unnecessary. The snake was just beginning to turn his life around, and was planning to enroll in art school in the fall.

I know a man who kept some cobras in a building behind his house. One day he and his son were going out there, when he discovered the large male cobra was loose.

He told his son to get in the house, and the father was also running to the house to get his equipment to capture the snake. The cobra was following them.

His son got to the house first and closed and locked the door. My friend was hollering for him to open the door.

Police aren't sure what kind of snake it was but they said it was large.

When I was on a business trip to Shanghai in 2001, our Chinese hosts took us to a popular local restaurant there.

One of our hosts asked, “Would you like a snake?” (They really do eat weird stuff and that was mild in comparison.) Out of curiosity, I asked, “What kind of snake?”

“A long one,” was the reply.

We politely declined, which we would have done regardless of how long or short it was. 😄

This could be murder...maybe the snake identified as a woman and as his wife. Could be...everybody has their own notion of their perfect squeeze.
