DeSantis should wait. Too young and more seasoning would help. It's the democrats who elect the young ones with the gift-of-gab. (JFK/BJ/Kenyan). None on the horizon. At 65 Paul avoids the 'geezer' label, something Biden and Trump will have to deal with.

A 2nd Trump term could will be quite successful and set an opening for the freedom lovers all Americans cherish. No opening for this 'kinder and gentler' stuff.

Rand Paul has never demonstrated that he gets the existential threat to the nation that open borders poses.

I supported Rand until Trump came along.

Rand’s positions are generally great, but Trump was the right man at the right time and seems to be much more of a fighter than Rand.

More Trump please.

I like Rand Paul in the role he is in. He is strong and outspoken in some areas, and a complete squish in others. I don’t want him as POTUS.

the way forward:

DeSantis for Governor 2022

Trump for President 2024
Trump for President 2028 <— Trump’s 3rd term (since nothing’s in stone)

DeSantis for Governor 2028
DeSantis for President 2032
DeSantis for President 2036
DeSantis for President 2040 <— DeSantis’ 3rd term (since nothing’s in stone)

Agree....Pompeo/DeSantis would be my ideal. We need foreign relations experience at this point in time. All other categories requires their own experts operating under the guidance of the President.

Senators have in the past proven to be lousy presidents. Senators are Talkers. Not people of Action.

I think Rand Paul is a much better choice than DeSantis.

Rand Paul knows the ropes in DC

Being a Governor is one thing and NOT the same thing as a President.

When DeSantis stops talking sound bytes about himself and Florida and starts talking about the rest of us, let me know.

Doing what a good Governor is supposed to do when you have backing and no one is really looking is one thing.

He might be a little too cocky and full of himself now. His shtick won't work the same for a President.

61 is better than 65. It just is. If he wants to run in 2024, he should. Give Republicans a choice. We’re not a damn monarchy, and we don’t do coronations.

Having a wealth of candidates who I’d feel comfortable voting for is a good problem to have, one I never thought I’d have when McCain and Romney were being anointed as Obama’s punching bags. I don’t agree with Rand on everything, but I respect his principles and the fact that he sticks with them. The Trump years showed us how many self-proclaimed “conservatives” and “libertarians” were phonies and grifters. Rand Paul isn’t one of them.

What is Rand Paul's record on immigration?

If it is Libertarian, Wall Street Journal, or Chamber of Commerce, I will not support the guy.

Even Trump lied constantly about immigration.

In Trump's first three years - before Covid - Trump issued more Green Cards, naturalized more new citizens, and issued more work visas, than Obama did in Obama's last three years.
