I am disagreeing with the above comment, this has to be one of the worst covers of any song.
Yes took a beautiful simple song, and made it into a hedonistic mess.

Overblown, and totally the wrong approach for such an introspective song.

I’ve always loved both versions, but I grew up hearing Yes’s version first before I ever heard the original.

Unlistenable version. A bunch of dudes strutting their riffs. Probably took them 15 minutes total to create and perform. Some will like it (some bands do covers of “Don’t worry Kyoko, Mama’s only looking for her hand in the snow” by Yoko Ono, for example) . “Amazing” like Al Yankovic doing Ave Maria.

"Bookends" album their best - wins over "Sounds of Silence" by a length.
("Sounds of Silence" was the first album I bought with my paper route money - man, that was a looog time ago)

Yes took a beautiful simple song, and made it into a hedonistic mess.I guess you have to be a Yes fan. This was a 'bonus track' on my CD of the Fragile Album. I liked it, though it definitely has only a passing resemblance to the original.

I just listened to it.
Terrible. Annoying.
Sorry.
