Most of us can remember our favorite childhood popsicles, ice creams or even choc ices, whether they were dished out from the home freezer, bought from a shop or purchased from a tinkling ice cream van. While many popular varieties are still around for a nostalgic treat, others have been put on ice forever. Here are some of the best frozen treats that have been discontinued – and that we wish would make a comeback.

Everywhere I go I search for the orange sherbet ‘push-ups”. I remember my mom buying them for me when I was 4 or 5 and love them to this day.

Something that amazes me is the fact that Mr. Softee ice cream tastes exactly like it used to 50 years ago. It’s the same heavy density too. In a world where so many foods have been dumbed down for profit that surprised me.

I have not bought a frozen treat off an ice cream truck in some 45 years but when I did, this was my favorite:

Ice cream trucks used to come around our neighborhood in the Boston area all during school summer vacation which ran from mid-June to Labor Day weekend. They played this weird piano music that you could hear from blocks away. When we heard this, we would run to the street with our nickels and dimes ready.

But of all the Popsicle products featured in this 1961 ad, the Dreamsicle is the only one that’s no longer around. Perhaps because it was pretty similar to the CreamsicleCreamsicles were my favorite. Didn't care one bit for the other flavors.
