It belonged to Jubba Airways and it was an internal flight from the city of Baidoa to the capital.

The passengers and the crew were all rescued, according to the airport authorities who were quoted by state media.

Those Fokkers are known for their stability. How the Fokker pilot managed to flip the aircraft is as mysterious as all 36 people surviving the crash.

The emergency crew flew in via helicopter.

” How the Fokker pilot managed to flip the aircraft is as mysterious as all 36 people surviving the crash.”

Not really. They missed the runway.

Somali Airlines is run by Lufthansa, and is a professional operation.

That Juba Airlines plane looks pretty nice, except for the upside down with no wings thing. I suspect they are also run by Lufthansa.

To become a mother Fokker, lay on your back and spread your wheels...

Remember: Any landing you can walk away from regardless of how fast you “walk” is a good landing. Any landing where you can use the aircraft again is a great landing. (Attributed to Brian Shul, former Sled Driver)

A tennis friend who is retired, was a tech rep for a jet engine manufacturer. He was on a overseas trip and did a check out flight with the indigenous flight crew. All the flight crew, except one had preflight drinks. I would not fly with them.

Just because the aircraft is off the runway after the crash does not mean the pilot missed the runway. He was on the runway as can be seen in the video with this story:

A Free Polish pilot was being interviewed before a live audience about his experiences in the RAF.

“In 1942 I vas on patrol venn these three fokkers dove on me from out of the sun.

(The audience tittered)

The interviewer turned to the audience, “I think I should point out that ‘Fokker’ was the name of the German-Dutch aircraft company”

“Dott’s true,” said the pilot, “but these three fokkers were flying Messerschmitts.”

I’ll bet the passengers are glad they remained belted in their seats with their trays in the full upright position!
