New video shows botched police response in Uvalde school shooting up close

Newly released footage from inside Robb Elementary School during the mass shooting shows more dysfunction and failure by first responders as cops stand around waiting for instructions and Police Chief Pete Arredondo pleads with the shooter to stop.

The newly released bodycam footage from May 24, first reported by CNN, shows a stunning lack of urgency among officers as an active shooter ultimately killed 19 children and two teachers.

Uvalde Schools Police Chief Pete Arredondo can be heard politely asking the gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, to surrender minutes after the cops hear a burst of gunfire from inside classrooms 111 and 1112.

“Sir, if you can hear me, please put your firearm down, sir. We don’t want anybody else hurt,” he said in the footage.

Arredondo’s pleas came after another officer received intel from dispatch that a boy called 911 from inside the classroom “full with victims” — confirming reports that some officers knew there were survivors inside, but still wasted precious time to confront the armed killer.

“We do have a child on the line,” a dispatcher tells UVD Officer Justin Mendoza, according to his bodycam footage. “He is in the room full of victims at this moment.”

The indictment of the police in the George Floyd situation has almost certainly made police around the country be afraid of their shadows. They second guess everything, fearful someone will watch what they do on reply and declare them “guilty,” “guilty,” “guilty.”

I can’t help but think that there was an agenda at work. The one person who was nominally in charge held back over 300 other law enforcement officers but for what reason? Maybe it’s one of those omelet situations where some eggs are going to be broken but the ends will justify the means and the larger issue of guns in the hands of ordinary citizens might be highlighted by a larger number of casualties. Progressives don’t value life for its intrinsic value only for its usefulness. If a few more children die maybe their sacrifice could have greater significance as sacrifice to the agenda. They might prove to be more useful as a mass casualty event to the progressives. It s just a cynical view but these days things are proven regularly that previously seem preposterous.

When only the government and criminals own guns.

Wonder if the chief quietly retires to a Swiss lakefront villa at some point.

The way the “sanitizer cop” is dressed makes me think he was given the job as a reward for being related to someone who can do such things. And, if he was merely “gifted” the gig (being a civil servant, aka, “cop”), others were also.

Getting a little tired of “waiting for instructions”. A guy killing kids and with all of the training and all of that layers of gear you are wearing and equipment you do not know what to do?

Quite frankly I’m surprised that “Chief” is still alive.

As am I. Frankly, it is a shame that justice hasn't been levied.

Chief Wiggum would be an improvement.

It is so sad; all of our nit-picking won’t bring back the dead victims.

The doors should have been locked, in the very least.
