It’s just an inaccurate attempt at bullshit to explain away fascism so it’s not directed at the right

OK. Let's play that game. Here are reasons why I consider Nazis and Fascists to be Left-wing:

The German National Socialist Workers Party declared it in their name.
Mussolini explicitly said that Fascism was a Collectivist philosophy.
Nazis believed in Big Government.
Nazis believed in Group Identity and that some groups were Good and some were Bad. Marx used this approach for Class War and Nazis used this for Racial Supremacy, but the group or tribal approach is basically the same.
Nazis didn't care about Individual rights.
Nazis didn't care about freedom.
Nazis wanted control of the means of production -- they didn't need to own the economic engines, but they did want to control the economy from top to bottom.

Now it's your turn -- please list reasons Why Nazis are right-wing.

I agree with your post. The Nazis certainly were left-wing socialists. As were Mussolini’s Fascists. Your reasoning is solid.

Some people classify the Nazis as right-wing simply because conservatives support a strong military, and so did the Nazis. That argument is both superficial and wrong.

But I will add one thing. There can be right-wing fascists (small f there). Such people believe in property rights, individual freedom, etc. in theory. But they will not tolerate any disagreement or dissent. That’s fascist behavior.

Nazis allowed about as much private ownership as we did

They were a one party police state rooted in nationalism and lore and devotion to the state

And allowed Christianity so long as it wasn’t subversive

They detested the left and Bolsheviks which is why they attacked Jews who they identified with the Bolshies rightly or wrongly

Fascist variations between Germany and Italy and Spain and a few others toyed with it

State control and police states can be left or right

In propaganda aimed at the Allied countries, the Nazis referred to themselves as The New World Order.

Someone needs to read the opening chapters of The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich before declaring that the Nazi party was socialist because of their name.

The name was borrowed from a regional Austrian party and didn’t mean anything. Once Hitler gained control it reflected his ideas and he drove out the small faction that actually had socialist ideas.

“Controversial problems [between Germany and Russia] did not, in my opinion, exist anywhere along the line from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea and to the Far East. In addition, despite all the divergencies in their views of life, there was one thing common to the ideology of Germany, Italy and the Soviet Union: opposition to the capitalist democracies in the West.”—Julius Schnurre, Nazi trade rep to Russia.
