A direct hit on DC with all politicians in session would be nice.

“...(S)kyscraper-size asteroid will blaze past Earth in a close approach this Sunday”

“Close approach” is SIXTEEN TIMES as far away as the moon, fer chrissakes!! Let me know when it flies a couple miles over Walla Walla, then we can call it a “close approach.” Heck, using the same language as these alarmists, we could just as easily say “The MOON, a FULL QUARTER of the size as EARTH, CONTINUALLY MENACES Earth from ONLY a quarter-million miles away! We’re DOOOOMED!!!”

If you even see an asteroid “blazing” that means it’s in the atmosphere above you and your remaining life is measured in milliseconds.

Are we having more asteroids lately, or are we just getting better at detecting and tracking them?

Would be nice if a small chunk of it broke off and landed on the New York Times. Miracles do happen from time to time. Just saying.

At a closing speed of 16,900 MPH with that size it would not burn off I would imagine and therefore could do a lot more than the Tunguska event.
