A news article from 1996, before Sarah Palin was in politics, quotes her as an Ivana Trump fan.
Palin had lined up to meet Trump, who was in Alaska promoting her perfume line.
Palin recounted the experience on Thursday after news broke of Ivana Trump's death.
Long before she became a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, Sarah Palin was a big fan of his ex-wife.
In 1996, Palin was just one of many Alaskans who lined up to meet Ivana Trump, the former Czechoslovakian Olympic skier and businesswoman, according to an article published in the Anchorage Daily News at the time.
Palin, who described as a commercial fisherman, drove from her home in Wasilla to Anchorage for what she told her husband was a trip to Costco. Instead, she went to JCPenney, where Trump was promoting her perfume line and meeting with fans.
''We want to see Ivana,'' Palin told the Anchorage Daily News, ''because we are so desperate in Alaska for any semblance of glamour and culture.''
The outlet reported Palin "admittedly" smelled like salmon for much of the summer and was just one of over 500 people who lined up to meet Trump.

I love this story. I, too, was a fan of Ivana. She and Donald were the “It” couple of the ‘80’s. She also had a Midas touch. Her hotel designs were well done and she was on equal footing with her husband. I am thankful that they remained friends after tge divorce. They raised great kids as well. I am a fan of Sarah Palin as well. This was a nice story.
That’s it! I was going to support Palin, even send her some money. I’ve always admired Palin. But now that I find out she met with Ivana, it’s all off. I don’t care what her political philosophy is, how she may vote, what her moral stances are. She met with Ivana!
Now I’m going to support her opponent. And I don’t even know who that is.
Now, how’s that for a principled voting decision.
Ivana was telling a story while signing books with her friend..I think Cindy Adams. They both talked about his ego and what she did on a skiing trip. She really was just too much for Donald so he went with Marla instead
We just can’t have a dishonest political leader who brazenly changes her mind and goes to J C Penny instead of Costco over perfume.

She told a nothing-level lie. I’m not talking about affairs or million dollar frauds.
Both men and women still desire autonomy within a marriage and will sometimes tell small lies to maintain a sense of autonomy.
Who cares really.
Because Sarah made a point if telling the story this week.

I agree with you. That’s why I called it a nothing level lie.
This is the kind of slop we get from twenty something coed journalists who’s talents make them better suited to the style page of the Porcupine Gazette.
But today they run major newsrooms.
An example of the fake news media. With all the crap going on in the world, Yahoo focuses some insignificant story trying to ridicule Sarah. She’ll win in a landslide.

My condolences to the Trump family for the loss of the beautiful and gracious Ivana. She was the first Trump I met, back in 1996, when she came to Alaska. I remember standing in line in Anchorage at the J.C. Penney store to meet her during an event to promote her new perfume.
