A French bulldog that was snatched from its owner in a Target parking lot in San Jose has been recovered. KRON4 spoke to the dog’s owner who said she was able to recover the 9-week-old Frenchie, which is named “Dolce,” on Tuesday.
The dog’s owner, Quinnesha Powell, earlier told KRON4 that she was heartbroken and “shocked” after her dog was snatched from her car at around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday. Powell told KRON she was just finishing her shopping when a dark blue Nissan Altima pulled up next to her.
Underground bunker full of stolen goods found at homeless camp: photos “I see him get out of the car and I asked him ‘hey what are you doing,’” Powell said. “He opens my passenger door, reaches over, takes my dog, and I see it, so I immediately jump into their car because the door is still opened and as I jump into their car he’s hitting me and they’re driving off.”
Powell told KRON she suffered scrapes and bruises after being dragged by the suspect’s car. She flagged down a police officer and filed a report.

Thankfully, Dolce is home safe now and Powell is grateful for the dog’s return. Although she says she hopes this does not happen again.
French bulldogs are often targeted by thieves. In a high-profile incident last year, Lady Gaga’s dogwalker was shot while trying to defend the singer’s French bulldogs from dog nappers while out walking them in Hollywood. Like Dolce, Gaga’s dogs were later safely recovered.
French bulldog thefts: Breed being targeted by thieves due to price, rise in popularity

Quinnesha I was thinking the dog was probably stolen to give to a girlfriend with a name like that.
That’s the dog’s owner’s name.
Any Lab has much greater value in practice.
People who steal other people’s pets are among the lowest of thieves.
If someone tried to steal my German shepherds while I’m not there all I have to do is go emergency room and look for people with deep lacerations and bleeding all over the place.
Glad the story has a happy ending. A neighbor of mine has a French bulldog.
One of the reasons I I got my CWP was for a little added insurance that no one was going to make off with my Frenchie. The other reason was I spend enough time in Atlanta.... with that Frenchie.
Inbred ‘fad’ dogs. I’ll stick to my rescue mutts. Best dogs I’ve ever had. Sweet and potentially intimidating, all in two 75 lb packages.
All of my family’s dogs since childhood have been rescues.
A Dachshund/Beagle mix (shelter)
An American Eskimo dog (abandoned)
A Boxer/American Stafforshire Terrier mix (shelter - near euthanasia)
My Boxie Bull (apparently this is a thing in Chicago now) is just about the sweetest thing. And a cuddler.
We foster dogs from a very small local rescue, and it’s been... Interesting.
Thanks for doing that. I have a Catahoula/Pittie mix that is hilarious, smart, and very obedient. The other is a ? and sweet and lazy.
They all have personalities. My dog SIGHS... It’s hilarious.
Too many dogs are being euthanized just because they can’t find a home. There’s no excuse. If you know anyone in Chocago’s Northwest Suburbs, we need fosters. I think my family is one of two right now.
Yeah, I’m in Texas and don’t know anyone up there. I work with a rescue org down here and get them donations when I can.
