The Tour de Farce is hardly a showcase of carbon footprint reduction. The number of support vehicles that travel with the cyclists is inordinate. The amount of CO2 generated from all the fans driving to the various sites also should be counted.
It may be a good showcase for the effects of the latest performance enhancing drugs, but that's about it.

Just think of all those bicycle riders peddling hard, exhaling all that CO2.
Next year the Tour de France should be done from home on Pelatons in the VR metaverse, riders with lye infused masks to scrub the CO2 from their breath.
