Movie on life and career of Elvis Presley
I’m surprised. Heard it was too much about Tom Hanks’ Colonel What’s-His-Name and not enough Elvis and hardly any of his singing and stuff.
What did you find when you saw it?
Thanks for the recommendation!
Melvin WHO?
He was one of the artists featured on I sold my soul for rock and roll. It opened my eyes on Elvis.
Melvin the mop boy. (obscure Troma film reference.)
I thought it was an outstanding movie. Tom Hanks played Col. Tom Parker and he was really good at it (Im not particularly a Tom Hanks fan). To tell you the truth I did not realize it was Tom Hanks until well into the movie. I don’t think his character was overly represented (my opinion)...Col. Parker was a very important person in the life Aand career of Elvis.
Also, I think the Army took some edge off of Elvis. He was never quite the same after the Army got through with him. In 1957, Elvis was the coolest guy on the planet.
I always love when references are made to him in any books / films / songs and others. it is interesting to guess what particular moment of the biography this reference is
I’m 75 years old....Elvis was a part of my life since I was 8 or 9. I was a big fan although I never got to see him live. He truly cared for his fans. I was 30 when he died....45 years ago...doesn’t seem that long!!!!
Ok ..thanks
The movie was interesting, and great talent. Came away sort of sad, though — don’t feel Elvis was allowed to perform or to live up to his potential. That Colonel was a money grubbing shuckster.
I feel they also left out a lot in terms of Pricilla. None of the other women were ever mentioned. I suppose that was irrelevant.
