New NYC PSA on “What to Do in a Nuclear Attack” Instructs Citizens to “Get Inside, Stay Inside, and… Follow Media” For Updates – “Officials” Will Notify You “When it’s Safe”

On Monday, the city of New York launched a new public service announcement (PSA) that provides guidelines about what residents should do in the event of a nuclear attack.

Unfortunately, New Yorkers who watch the PSA will likely be severely ill-prepared should a nuclear weapon detonate in their vicinity, as the video provides little in the way of specifics or useful information. Instead, the short clip instructs citizens to follow a rudimentary 3 step plan that leaves them completely reliant on the powers that be to come to the rescue.

According to the PSA, New Yorkers should 1) “Get inside” 2) “Stay inside” and 3) “Stay tuned” – or, as the narrator clarifies, “follow media” – in the event of a nuclear attack. After walking through the steps, the narrator hammers home the last point by commanding that the audience “don’t go outside until officials say it’s safe” to do so.

The video does not address what to do if one requires medical attention or food.

Sounds awfully similar to another step-by-step process that has been pushed recently – wasn’t get inside, stay inside, and don’t come out until the experts deem you can the basis of Covid lockdowns?

Wash. Rinse. Repeat. However, this time we are talking about a nuclear attack – something much more deadly than the fear-porn peddling Covid cultists could ever hope for with the virus.

But, instead of preparing the public for the horrific scenario, the lack of relevant information in the NYC PSA aims to create dependent masses who are reliant on the experts. And, it’s at a time when we are knee-deep in a proxy war with a country that possesses over 4,000 nuclear warheads.

It’s no coincidence this type of PSA is being released with what’s going on in Europe and the Pacific – whether it be to stoke fears or because of a legitimate, burgeoning threat. Nevertheless, the likelihood of a nuclear attack hitting NYC is currently slim to none, even according to the NYC Emergency Management Department, which put the chances of a strike at “very low.”

But, according to NYC’s Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol, the threat of a nuclear strike is “imminent.”

I worked Tech Control inside, stationed from Pete Field, right after I came back from Okinawa in 1971, IIRC. I was there just 5 months and got another overseas PCS very quickly (My 8 years and three months in the AF got me 6 years, 11 months overseas tours and the last 4 years of that was 50% TDY to remote locations).

What AMAZED me most was 90% of the guys there had spent their entire AF careers inside that mountain, never was outside CONUS once. I learned it all quickly, but I was the square peg in the round hole. I got a promotion out of it and was assigned overseas - again very soon.

It was an amazing place. Entire buildings on huge coil springs (for shock), large interior tunnels and cavities, many filled with epoxy filling in cracks in the interior granite laced with chicken wire to keep pieces from falling in on people. At the time, there were three main computer systems serving the complex: Burroughs NCR, IBM and UNIVAC running what they called “The Left Wall.”

6 million gallon interior lake, quaternary generating backup capacity (that ALL of failed at once, frighteningly) and the two big lumbering hydraulic blast doors.

BTW, I lost faith in all that once when one day I went in and BOTH doors were open. Never happened before. In this case, the contractor doing something in there had it in the contract they remain open.

The best thing? The chow hall. Best food I saw in my entire career. Because that’s where the General ate.

Something I won’t ever forget but don’t want to go back. :0)

We were all told that when the complex was built when Russian missile targeting wasn’t that accurate and that at least 15-30 minutes of survivability was all that was needed to use the ring-and-spoke C&C system to direct a nuclear response. Offutt AFB (B-52s), multiple outer ‘spoke’ sites with missiles, etc. and the like. None of us who would be caught inside when it hit expected to do anything but maybe survive for 30 days or so. Today? Targeting would demolish the entire complex in one hit, IMO.

What are the odds there wouldn't be time to respond?

I never knew about duck and cover until I went to a public school later on. I was young, had no idea what an atom bomb could do. I remember kids crying. For me it was just a game.

I'm not worried about anybody inside the mountain or other sites being able to respond. What I am worried bout is that goddam crooked, senile old fool in the WH being herded into an irreversible nuclear conflict by MIC-influenced, leftist and RINO neocon NWO war mongers, myself. IMO, this country has never been in a more dangerous and perilous position than today. All because of money, leftist ideology and power dominance over the people.

Imagine a city the size of New York trying to feed itself after a few blasts.

Or if the power goes out for 48 hours, or if the EBT machines stop working.

I first lived on Ent and then moved to Peterson when they closed Ent.

Oh, yeah, I had lots of friends in Tech Control. In the 90s, they put tech control into the comm-computer field, as circuits became imps and then routers in milnet and siprnet. By the time I retired in 98, I was also a tech controller—by way of the combined AFSC only! But I did get my NT 4.0 MCSE...

But yeah, I actually went out on the little rowboat in the lake. My best friend was an electrician and had to maintain the water gauges therein.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Philco computers. They were the ones running the space operations center —Delta, and Missile warning—425L. Fornicator, as we called in (four and a quarter). They were old then—I think the original systems from the early sixties.

“They have plans for it.”

Yup. They have plans.

The problem is that no plan survives contact with the truly crazy and weird—and a nuclear attack will confound even the best plans.

Example—There are plans to get Congress out of harms way by getting them to underground shelters.

Problem—That assumes that there is time to contact them and time for them to get to those places. With disrupted communications and panicky individuals in the chain of command Murphy’s Law starts to kick in... (anything that can go wrong will go wrong).

We used to joke and say after the war we’d call it Cheyenne Lake...

But I worked the MEBU, which stood for Missile (Warning) Essential Backup System... We acted as a graphics system for Missile Warning’s big screens. I’d actually start the scenarios for them from mag tape. I had a bank of small cathode ray tubes I had to monitor when they were doing scenarios...

I’d watch the missile and bomber tracks coming in from the Soviet Union and subs... All with real-time wind and weather data showing fallout patterns, time to impact, etc...

I really, truly believed it would happen someday. When the Soviets fell in 1991, I thought all of humanity had dodged a bullet...

Now under Biden, just damn it! Joe brought it all back!

‘cause some wood siding and a layer of Sheetrock is all you need to protect yourself from the shockwave of a fusion weapon.

Much of our planned targets were changed in 1992-98.

They went from the population centers to industrial operations, military bases and above all, command centers and hidey holes the big wigs would go hide out in.

Now all those places were legitimate targets before then, but population centers themselves were delisted, unless they were also associated with big factories and works.

The idea is, their people will survive, but not their masters. Nuclear decapitation.

You're right. The specter of Nuclear War's back... in spades - thanks to Joe and his incompetent Administration.. I have family that live in the equivalent of a Florida "Fort Repose" and will survive. For me - and most of the rest of the family we'll die quickly. I can see where you got your screen name from and why...

US targeting normally wouldn’t be targeting mass population centers

The Russians might not target NYC population as well.

But I'd think that in the first 20 minutes or so, MIRV'd SLBMs would destroy Joint Base McGuire, Naval Weapons Station Earle, NYSE data centers in NJ, etc.

And they might target the Fed on Maiden Lane, Manhattan.

Classic military doctrine would be to target command and control first.

Given the weirdness of the current administration it is not clear to me who is actually in control—presumably the Russians have their own theories on that.

Well one thing I know for sure...

If they hit the Pentagon—and I was stationed there from 1988-91—it would VASTLY improve our military overnight!

The right approach for DC and the immediate surroundings would be a high altitude blast for electromagnetic pulse effects.

See 98. Use an EMP weapon to change command and control to consternation and confusion.

Most every important piece of military and national command authority electronic/electrical gear has been EMP hardened. Equipment tests used to take place down along the Chesapeake at Solomons Island, USN facility in Maryland when I was still in DC.

All DoD equipment has to be compliant with the MIL-STD below:

How about they create the Potomac Sea? ;-)
