Homophobic misinformation circulating about monkeypox on social media is hampering efforts to curb the disease’s spread, research conducted on behalf of MIT Technology Review has found.
There have been 2,093 confirmed cases of the virus reported worldwide as of June 17. So far cases have mainly been identified among men who have sex with men, according to the World Health Organization. Its director in Europe, which is the epicenter of the current outbreak, sounded the alarm this week, warning that the authorities need to do more to contain the disease.
That job is being made harder by false, often homophobic theories that are spreading on all major social media platforms, according to research carried out for MIT Technology Review by the Center for Countering Digital Hate. These false claims are making it harder to convince the public that monkeypox can affect everyone, and they could dissuade people from reporting potential infections.
Some of this misinformation overlaps with familiar pandemic conspiracy theories, attacking Bill Gates and “global elites'' or suggesting that the virus was developed in a lab. But much of it is directly homophobic and attempts to pin blame for the outbreak on LGBTQ+ communities. Some Twitter posts claim countries where anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric is illegal are the areas where monkeypox cases are highest, or call the virus “god’s revenge.” In a video shared on Twitter last month, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia falsely claimed that “monkeypox is really only transmitted mostly through gay sex.”

The author objects due to one word missing.
“monkeypox is really only [being] transmitted mostly through gay sex.”
The being is understood in her statement, he is being purposely obtuse and technical.
Butt sex must be the healthiest thing in the world according to the misinformation police.
Homosexuality is “contrary to nature.” Since the vast majority of homosexuals are liberals and believe they evolved from monkeys they should be learning from the monkeys. At this point in their evolution thinking the monkeys are evolving while the homosexuals are devolving into something perverted.
I remember when Technology Review was a good science magazine.
They’re saying the same stuff about monkeypox that they did about AIDS.
They did not want to admit the disease emerged in buggerers. Now they blame it on homophobic heterosexuals and Chicken Little us with dire warnings it will spread like wildfire.
We’ve already been there done that with AIDS. Pulling in MIT to make this stick isn’t helping.

There’s no virus other than digital, theoretical abstraction made on computer from a genomic database. The virus has never been isolated, purified, sequenced, characterized and proven 100% to exist. Whatever supposedly pictures of SARS-CoV2 are just made up from photoshop.
I've heard gays dispute that homosexuality is equivalent to butt sex. They claim there are many ways for gay men to have sex, hence not all of them engage in butt sex.

So, then what did all those people die of, between Jan 2020 and now?
Can MIT provide the overall total number of Monkeypox cases there have been and then provide the percentages as to which groups have been affected by it? Perhaps such would aid there argument? I doubt it given MIT has been infected by the Left so hard its not even funny.

I saw anesthesiology nurse testified in front state lawmakers said he realized he was euthanizing patients, he quit his job. Most patients reportedly died under treatment in the hospital were killed by Remdesivir treatment.

For the “follow the science” preachers they don’t seem to like the science. Tell people the truth liberals. Contrary to FR tradition, I actually went and read (skimmed) the article. It is a nauseating disgrace that an institution with MIT’s reputation should publish what is clearly an opinion article, and NOT a scientific analysis.
