Editor’s note: This story has been updated to correct a quote from the White House, which actually said some pro-choice activists are “out of step” with the mainstream of the Democratic Party.
The White House tried to defend President Joe Biden’s seemingly drowsy response to the reversal of Roe v Wade on Saturday but instead sparked an instant backlash by labeling pro-choice activists “out of step.”
The apparent jab was made in a statement to The Washington Post responding to criticism of what many Democrats see as a response that has been too little, too late. White House communications director Kate Bedingfield said: “The president has been showing his deep outrage as an American and executing his bold plan—which is the product of months of hard work—ever since this decision was handed down.”
She went on to say that “Joe Biden’s goal in responding to Dobbs is not to satisfy some activists who have been consistently out of step with the mainstream of the Democratic Party” but “to deliver help to women who are in danger and assemble a broad-based coalition to defend a woman’s right to choose now, just as he assembled such a coalition to win during the 2020 campaign.”
Women’s March Director Rachel O’Leary Carmona told activists she hoped to “push [Biden’s] authority to the limit” regarding abortion rights. By Sunday morning, Carmona had changed her Twitter name to “Out of Touch Activist.”
The statement, which many noted had taken aim at those fighting to uphold abortion rights rather than those who actively put women “in danger” by stripping them of the right to bodily autonomy, came as more than 1,000 demonstrators with the Woman's March's “Summer of Rage” rally surrounded the White House to urge Biden to declare a state of emergency to protect abortion access.

Poor Pedo Pete. He just can’t do anything right these days.
Oh! PPP is now replacing BBB. President Pedo Pete!
The White House is aligned with the radicals. They just want them to lay low until after the midterms.
Idiots arguing with one another... Cool.
When you lay down with raggedy ass college hippy losers, you’re gonna get fleas.
He is right about them being out of step since Roe V. Wade was overruled. Until that time, the pro-choice people were in step with the national Democrat Party because the party had a national strategy based on holding key blue states and fighting in swing states and ignoring “flyover states” which had little population and electoral votes. As long as abortion was protected as a Constitutional Right, that worked for abortion activists. But now, with the issue being thrown back into the states, the activists and Democrat Party has been caught flat-footed. They can no longer simply write off states which didn’t matter in the national elections and now must fight state by state with many of those states meaded by Republican governors and legislators.
Unfortunately he and his cabal are encouraging the mob to harm and antagonize the Supreme Court justices. The new justices played Neicy nice with the rats and see what they got. If this would’ve been Trump instigating the MAGA patriots to go after the Supreme Court justices I guarantee you impeachment hearings would already been held! EFFIN McConnell and McCarthy... freaking complacent POS!!
Go ahead libtards. Kill your kids. Y’all seem to have a real taste for it.
Understandable that they would expect the “pro-choice” to march off a cliff for them.
You mean Pierre Antoinette, the Perfumed Prince of Transportation? His superpower is proving that a paid position is worthless just by occupying it!
“Bodily integrity.” Seriously? They would fire these same women for refusing their jab. Damn hypocrites.
What a contorted, convoluted, ridiculous headline.
