i got into castle as a fan of firefly (independent space contractors fighting big govt)
was castle a chick show? maybe. i don’t mind a romantic angle when the babe is hot.... tho the rest of the show needs to carry it. it got pretty formulaic after a while but was good for a few seasons.

Firefly is one of my all time favorites.
“That sounds like the Alliance. Unite all the planets under one rule so that everybody can be interfered with or ignored equally.”
— Malcolm Reynolds, Firefly, Season 1: The Train Job.
My wife watches Castle. She normally will not watch “cop” shows. She is my guide on chick shows. lol....
I am a Fillion fan - of his work. His politics leave some to be desired.

We’re watching the old:
Adam 12
Rockford Files
Gunsmoke
Lone Ranger (Hubby watches; I don’t)
Rip Tide
The not-so-old:
In Plain Sight
Cold Case
Without A Trace
The Closer (I’d watch if it were free, but it’s not)
To: Chani
Yeah, back when we only had 3-4 channels, after Captain Kangaroo I’d watch anything on: game shows, Perry Mason, Make Room for Daddy, Leave it to Beaver....
To: Chani
Perry Mason is a great show. You can also catch his show four times a day on FETV.
To: Big Red Badger
Bladerunner? There’s no accounting for taste.

I've watched a few "Dragnet" shows on YouTube. I remember my father watching that in prime time when I was a small boy in the 1960s. I was too young to really understand it. Now I know why my father liked it.
Almost all the old shows can be found on YouTube if you are willing to put up with a few interruptions for ads.

Beverly Hillbillies,Green Acres,Andy Griffith Show (before you learned he was a flaming leftist)
The only modern TV I enjoy is Corner Gas, some Mr Monk...and I’m sure there is something else.
