while the ongoing war has decreased the amount of chickpeas normally grown in Ukraine by about 50 tons 50 tons is only about two truckloads.
Someone needs to check their figures.

"50 tons"
Fifty tons is 20% of the world's supply? Fifty tons equals 100,000 pounds. If you get 6 servings of hummus per pound, that would be 600,000 servings. How many servings of hummus are consumed worldwide on a typical day? Taking a wild guess that it's 200,000 servings, 600,000 servings would only be a three-day supply. But for all I know, more than 600,000 servings are consumed every day.

OHMIGHAWD! We’ve been through a pandemic, are dealing with near record inflation and various shortages - baby formula and tampons - but this.... This is too much. A hummus shortage! I can’t stand baba gnouche so this is serious.

Russia’s war in Ukraine...The go-to excuse for every problem imaginable. Yer drain's clogged? Well, if Putin hadn't invaded Ukraine, you wouldn't be losing your hair worrying over the war to clog it up!

Hold onto your hummus: Global chickpea supply could drop 20% this year The ongoing war has decreased the amount of chickpeas normally grown in Ukraine by about 50 tons.

“May dip”, or may not.
Total world production of chickpeas is 11.6 Million tons. A reduction of 50 tons is a loss of 0.00043%. (It’s equivalent to a person have $16M and spending $50)

so this is to say that the total chick pea production is 5 x 50 tons or a mere 250 tons per year?
I hardly thing so. Wouldn’t it be a whole lot more? 50 tons is seems it would be hardly a fart in a whirlwind.

Hummus is leftist food. Along with Avocado toast and Starbucks. We could easily starve the left out by eliminating those things.

A world without chickpeas would be like a world without...um...garbanzo beans. Which would be pretty darn awful. For, you know, people who like that sort of thing...
