A little-known European medical team is poised to become one of the most important groups in the shifting landscape of U.S. abortion bans.
Aid Access, an online-only service run by a Dutch physician, Dr. Rebecca Gomperts, began shipping abortion pills to Americans from abroad four years ago. The organization’s team consists of about four doctors supervising about 10 medical staff members, and they’re difficult for U.S. authorities to reach because all are outside the country and they ship pills from a pharmacy in India.
Opponents of abortion rights have so far largely found themselves powerless to stop Aid Access from mailing abortion pills even to the most conservative corners of the country, at least while the organization’s opponents don’t control the White House. That has transformed Aid Access nearly overnight from an obscure overseas group into an essential part of the effort to keep abortion accessible nationwide.
“It’s the only clinically supported service that mails to states where telehealth for abortion is banned,” said Ushma Upadhyay, an associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at the University of California, San Francisco.
Gomperts, who founded Aid Access in 2018, said she has no intention of changing her work now that the Supreme Court has overruled Roe v. Wade. Aid Access has been receiving 4,000 requests a day since Roe v. Wade was overturned, she said, up from 600 to 700 a day previously.
Last year, after Texas banned abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy, orders from the state tripled in the weeks after the law took effect, according to a study published in JAMA Network Open.

The abortion pill is very dangerous and is very time sensitive. It won't work after so many weeks and abortion clinics knew this. Often they would give the abortion pill but have to follow up with a D & E abortion.
Now in many states there are no abortionists to give a D & E so what will happen? Women will have to go to the hospital or else it could kill them.
are the FDA and Customs inspecting the mail for this as vigorously as they did to keep unlicensed European baby formula from being smuggled in?

Sadly, SCOTUS Dobbs decision will only affect a very small percentage of abortions. Technology, globalism and liberal politics will ensure abortion continues nearly unabated.

What? Are you insane. 50% of all abortions in the USA are medical induced. The self resolving rate for under 8 weeks is 98% they proceed just like a normal menstrual cycle. Even at 15 weeks the self resolving rate is 85%. From a medical stand point there is zero difference between a natural miscarriage and a medically induced miscarriage.
After 24/48 hours any residue of the medications has metabolized out.of the body. A bloodtest not a physical examination would be conclusive one way or the other. From that point forward a woman’s health is the focus and both are treated identically no matter state law at that point.
Federal privacy law means a woman is under no obligation to disclose to any entity including a hospital that she took any medications we have absolute privacy in with our medical data from covered entities which are enumerated directly in the HIPAA law. Hospitals are covered entities you have zero obligation to disclose anything to them and would be a fool too in a redstate. Use a third party to receive an anonymous parcel via international mail with that third party not in state jurisdiction and the state cannot do crap about it. Only the US Federal government has jurisdiction with foreign countries states are expressly prohibited in the constitution again that is enumerated powers of the feds one of 8 that are directly written in the articles.
