Broke my collarbone...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everything in what you wrote was so identical to my situation, I could have written it.
Broke collarbone and had a 3rd degree separation when the front wheel departed. I had just lifted up on the handlebars to clear some uneven pavement I saw coming up at about 15 mph when the wheel came off. Truth be told, I think I had forgotten to tighten the handles. My bike wasn’t a Lambert... it was one of these but it looks essentially the same.... https://budgetbicyclectr.com/1974-sekine-10-speed-road-bicycle-55cm.html I bought mine at the start of 1975. In fact, I bought two of them and still have both.
Liggett and Roll were Pharmstrong enablers. They actively defended him when the rational world already had reached the inescapable conclusion that everyone in the peloton was doped and it was impossible for one 'cleans' rider to beat 179 who were doped.
The reason they were such fanbois doubtless had to do with the fact that Pharmstrong's reign of terror made them very wealthy. It was their good fortune to be hired by the 3rd-rate American cable TV network that decided to test the waters and host their own coverage of the 1999 TdF for the American market and with it the post-cancer return of Pharmstrong to that event.
Cancer Jesus became a cause célèbre and Americans who weren't even cycling fans lapped it up, and Liggett, Roll and Phil Sherwen fell face-first into their pot of gold. And there might well have been a serious investigation into Pharmstrong's doping before his Mennonite ex-teammate brought him down if so many fans -- and particularly American fans -- hadn't been so thoroughly brainwashed by the likes of Phil, Bob and Paul steadfastly evangelizing for Pharmstrong, proclaiming him innocent of the charges and insisting it was all just a smear-job by jealous and desperate Europeans who feared Americans coming to dominate "their" sport.
So thank you very much but I'll be watching the coverage on ITV. At least none of them have the stench of Juan Pelota on them.
And you might not think so highly of Bobke if you'd ever met him. In person (once he steps away from the broadcast booth) he is churlish and rude to fans, ... if he's in a good mood.
I’m in the USA & subscribe to DirecTV Stream. I am recording the TdF daily, which is being aired in the morning hours (live) on the USA Network. You might check the guide on your package to see if you have USA, and if it’s being aired for you as well. Seems Peacock (the extra-charge option) picks up coverage an hour earlier than USA, but otherwise is the same days & hours.
Thanks
Gonna shower now and get the 5th covid shot. Life goes on.
I like to rest at the river where the light bounces off the water and dances in the trees (while listening to music on my headphones) ...
I made a GIF:
Checkout those rad breakers,
Imagine those hitting your ankles.
When I finally got brave enough to go in the water,
I very quickly stepped over them.
Looks just like here at Pemaquid.
I'm gonna get an inflatable yacht.
With inflatable Playboy Bunnies.
