New York, NY – The mass exodus plaguing the New York Police Department (NYPD) may be having the biggest impact on its investigations with more than 100 seasoned detectives filing their retirement paperwork in June.
Statistics showed that 250 NYPD detectives have retired so far this year and sources told the New York Post that another 75 veteran investigators were planning to retire in July.
Before the June retirements began, the police force had 5,600 detectives.
That’s almost 2,000 fewer detectives than NYPD had on the department less than 20 years ago, the New York Post reported.
The detectives’ union warned that the city was going to start feeling the impact of losing so many experienced investigators so quickly.

People keep reminiscing about the Guiliani years need to realize that the violent criminal thugs of today weren't born or were infants when 9/11 happened. They have no recollection of the Guiliani years other than stories from their parents, grandparents, or public officials.
I think NYC now is worse than the NYC of the 1970s, and that's really saying something because NYC was a real dumpster fire in the 1970s, but they didn't have this out-and-out brazen crime like they do today. Today you have "leaders" like Adams who is already contemplating a presidential run in 2024. It's the leadership of NYC and NY state that is running both entities into the ground, you have Hochul already undercutting the SCOTUS decision by banning concealed-carry in virtually all public places.

So why are they leaving? That’s the million dollar question.

This is what TPTB want.
Its an easy way to get relatively good cops, and a whole lot of white cops, to leave so they can fill up those spots with alphabet/quota folks. Who may or may not do the job very well, but they don’t really care about that.

they don't retire until they get their pension and then all of a sudden they grow a conscience...so its not like their leaving in the middle of their careers...
note to self..in the next life, get a govt job..

......I think this shows that even if Don Jr. were elected Mayor of New York and given dictatorial powers it would still take decades to return New York to a decent place to live.
Criminals now will be further encouraged to committ crimes knowing that there are likely zero investigators available to solve his crime and arrest and prosecute him.

Laws are for civilized societies. You don't need cops when you have no will or ability to enforce law.
New York City is not a city (from the Latin root civitas, originally meaning 'citizenship' or 'community member') but an Urban Reservation for those who refuse to fit in society.

You seem to know the New York City of the 70s and today very well. How long and where did you live there?

I read an article somewhere that FL and TX had a huge influx of cops who were mad at the whole defund police movement, and were happier knowing they are not under lefty nonsense every day.

This is really great to see. I trust crime spikes and democrat party voters are forced to live with what they created.

Same thing is going on in Chicago. Who could blame them?
NYC and Chicago are going to the dogs.
You are correct in that these folks are so sick and tired of the "Handle with Kids Gloves" where the crimes that are being committed.
My old man told me never ever protest because the police have every right to shoot and ask questions later if I were holding a molotov cocktail in my hand.
Now, the policemen can not fire on these folks.
I do not blame them one bit either.

This is happening in New Orleans. Is this a national trend as a result of BLM summer and Soros’ justice?
