I am in Michigan. I would consider moving to Ohio, not in urban counties like Lucas or Cuyahoga, though. Fulton County looks nice. I have roots there.

I don't know how long you have been in Oklahoma... but you mentioned that you liked Michigan and can handle the cold. Wisconsin here. I used to think nothing of the cold, but as I get older, it is really getting tough. If I had a long stint down south, I don't think I could re-acclimate to Wisconsin.

Florida is #1 with Tennessee #2.

Maybe check out Idaho. House or one of it’s suburbs might work.

But any non-PA’ers will pay dearly for carrying into PA!

We were considering NW Arkansas before I retired two years ago, but decided to stay in Arizona. Sometimes I wish we had moved, such as the other day when it hit 116.
To: Zathras
Well you beat me to Prescott. Friend moved there two years ago and put it on my radar.

Oh, come on. I have a sister who lives in Florida, and she assures me that most of the pythons aren’t even 18 feet.

Big Island Hawaii, or Molokai.
Ignore the laws, no open carry though, it upsets all the Japanese here.
Everybody ignores the laws and I can recommend a lawyer, although you probably won’t ever need him.

“and the heat and humidity.”
I dunno how the hell they can stand it.
I have had them tell me that I must have been nuts to move to where we are in AZ.
“There are all kinds of nasty snakes and spiders in AZ.”
Thats what they say.
I go..”Wait wut?” “At least we aint got water moccasins here, or several kinds of other poisonest snakes, or alligators, or boa constrictors, or lizards that are as big as cats.”

Suggest a State with no income tax. TN recently ditched theirs.

I’d say the N GA mountains but we don’t really want anybody else. The white flight from Atlanta is bad enough.

Since retirement is in 2-3 years, keep an open mind to all alternatives and visit several locations during different seasons.
It also depends on what your leisure time activities are, and how physically fit you are; I enjoy gardening and farming but I am too old to start out all over again.
That said, I would consider New Hampshire or Maine, fairly close to the ocean for temperate climate, taxation, and economy.
To: LouAvul
I have lived in Florida three times and that was enough! I am looking for a dry as a bone climate with mountains so it will be somewhere out west for me and the Mrs. - just have to convince her to give up her dream of moving to Charleston, SC.
