I dived two springs in that area in the 70s, Vortec and Morrison. These are dangerous dives under the best conditions.
My prayers for their loved ones.

What an odd headline. It should read “Two ‘openwater divers’ die in cave dive.”
It’s weird that three young teens couldn’t haul the first guy out of the water because he was too heavy.

One of the divers is believed to have mentioned that he possibly had a leak in his tank. If you even THINK you have a leak in a scuba tank....do NOT attempt another dive. Stupid, stupid, S.T.O.O.P.I.D.

Not a whole lot of discovery involved if the body surfaces right in front of you.

the cold water springs in Florida and south GA are very, very dangerous for most swimmers and divers. Very dangeroud.

I get that the one who died had leaks in his tank and shouldn’t have gone back down but why did the other diver die? Is it so common to have leaks in the tanks that two of them did?

I scuba dive when I was younger. Scuba diving is dangerous. I read that cave diving and shipwreck diving are the two most dangerous diving. If I recall, the Andrea Dora has more deaths by scuba divers than were killed in the shipwreck...

One of the divers is believed to have mentioned that he possibly had a leak in his tank. And Cassidy Hutchinson would swear to that.

Scuba divers have been dying in those springs since at least the 1950s.
The water is shockingly clear, and quite chilly for Florida.
Even experienced cave divers with guide ropes get killed down there.
Does not make sense, but it happens a lot.

Three teens couldn’t lift a guy out of the water?
