We as a nation are at that defining moment when one side has to win and the other lose; there is no middle ground.
Not since the decade leading up to the Civil War has there been as much discussion about the possibility of the United States splitting into two or more countries as there has been in the past 10 years. The reality is that this nation has effectively split into two countries which are, for the moment, tenuously living side-by-side.
Race or ethnicity has been the underlying foundation in the creation of every nation in the history of mankind except the United States, as its founding was based on the tenet that all men are created equal and are endowed with certain unalienable rights that government cannot abrogate. As it does not have the cohesive factors of race or ethnicity, this nation as constituted can only survive based on the goodness of its people and the wisdom and integrity of its ruling class.
Ben Franklin at the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787 in a speech to his fellow members of the convention said of the newly drafted Constitution and the government it created:
…and there is no form of Government but what may be a blessing to the people if well administered, and [I] believe farther that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in Despotism, as other forms have done before it…
Ben Franklin’s prescient forewarning has come to pass. Over the past thirty-years, a plurality of ill-educated and malleable citizens have allowed the self-serving, decadent and nescient ruling class, in alliance with the radical left, to establish near-permanent despotism in the United States. They have deliberately and inexorably widened the gulf between the people

No, you misunderstand....... Trump was a fantastic President and accomplished all you listed and much, much more. Ironically, that is the problem.
But, a big but.......donald Trump chose to not fight his enemies and allowed them the destroy him. They are all still alive and well and invigorated. Those same enemies are intent on assuring he is not re elected. If Trump is relected they will destroy him again simply because he lets them
“A great many of the immigrants to America believed fully in her unique constitution and its individual liberty.”
Most immigrants were attracted by cheap land and high wages.
In the 1900s from overpopulated Europe, and in the 2000s from overpopulated Latin America and Asia.
I agree with everything you said, but the city of St. Louis is a completely separate entity from St. Louis County. It’s a bizarre arrangement compared to the usual city-within-a-county, but nevertheless, it’s true.
There is a unification push from time to time, but it’s a money grab from the city - they’ve lost so many residents and businesses, and people are avoiding going downtown because of the lawlessness of people like Kim Gardner, who will let criminals off the hook.
US stability depended partly on the structure and process established by the constitution.
But it also depended on the extra-constitutional party system, especially the mostly one-party Republican rule from Lincoln through Hoover and the Democratic rule from FDR through Carter.

The party structures allow a small fraction of the population to control the political outcomes.
“The party structures allow a small fraction of the population to control the political outcomes.”
Uh??
Every country, except dictatorships, have political parties. And it’s absolutely not the case that it allows a “small portion” of the population to control the outcome - especially in the US,which has a winner take all system.
You need to have a majority to gain power at the various level of government, and a majority is not a “small portion”.
“How did we sink so low?? “
By not paying attention over decades as the Left/Democrats took over the media, the education system (K-12 and college), the legal system and corrupted the voting system. We relied on lying unethical GOPe to do what they promised they would do only th have them not fulfill that promise. It took decades to realize just how phoney the GOPe is and how they weren’t fighting for us but giving lip service to our principles. Thats just a starter as to how we have sunk so low.
Im ok with dividing it up.
Lyndon Baines Johnson planted a seed in 1964. He created a 'Great Society'! Everything, everything today can be traced back to Johnson. Need to urinate? Find LBJ's grave.....
I, too, am “OLD”, 82 to be exact. As the years have flown by I have, here at what would seem the “end”, an answer to why my family and I ended up in Japanese concentration camps at the beginning of WWII in the Philippine Islands.
Specifically Franklin D Roosevelt was asked to take all Americans and get them out of there. He said, ‘No. It will be in the middle of negotiations to prevent any fighting.” or something very similar so we were forced to stay as were the Brits, Aussies, etc. It was a real disaster for so many really nice, normal people...who ended up horribly disfigured internally and externally. Yet, even today that aspect of that place and that war is ignored. But I understand better...
It has everything to do with a nation divided though we didn’t know it at the time and it occurred with in the government itself....I would love to know who made the decision. I think those people did not operate within a moral system and nor did they give a s..t if whole American families were demolished or who within the American families died.
What was amazing was the toll it took on ordinary people...the children especially and the sacrifices made for the kids by their parents. That is another time for another observation. I can tell you I was non-responsive for 4 years after we were rescued from concentration camps. General MacArthur rescued us literally the same day we were to be shot on the edge of a trench we had dug and the Japanese were going to bury us in.
Nobody gives him or his men credit for that miracle. Absolutely no one I am aware of. I think of them every day and wish I could say it to them directly.
So now I have a question: when we are finished dividing this country into 2 4 or 6 pieces, how will we treat each other then? I
We may be too diverse, different, and divided to stay together now, but I’d say that in the past we were one nation. Like other countries, we did have a recognizable national core with outlying minority groups. The big split was between North and South, but there was more agreement and unity in the (non-Southern White Protestant or Christian or Judeo-Christian) core than there is in today’s America.
Ballot access on a party line is key, and a plurality in the primary can get you on the ballot for the general election. Then you need 51% of the maybe 60% of the people who vote.
Unless you are really very wealthy and can buy your way in, no outsider gets anywhere politically without working their way up some faction of the Republican or Democratic organization.
I remember when, I think it was Al Gore got caught in involution of law and was never prosecuted for it.. And when asked about it he said, "There is no controlling legal authority.. That just about sums up the problem we, as a nation, are suffering at this time. We have no DOJ. and law breakers, big and small are getting away with it..
"Their mindless determination to confiscate guns by any means possible, either overt or devious, and censor speech they do not approve is unbound and unrestrained regardless of court rulings."
The north were successors to the English freeholders and emerging bourgeoise class of merchants and manufacturers
The south were would be European noblemen. The relationship of nobles to serfs is quite similar to that of plantation owners to slaves, the main difference being that serfs were tied to the land owned by the noble while the slaves could be bought and sold. In overpopulated Europe, serfs had no cash value due to overpopulation - if you had land, the serfs came with it.
I think it’s one country with a large group of vocal agitators who get a lion share of the coverage but by no means is the country split. And if the news was reported fairly, the issues clearly and correctly, they wouldn’t even have a quarter of support that they have now. But things look to continue as they are this is an analyzer continue to be told in the people will continue to believe that the news speaks the truth.
I would have said that before the ESG movement where many, maybe most, stock exchange listed companies went full woke. Where you can be fired for saying that a man can’t get pregnant.
Were you at Santo Thomas?
Yeah the whole problem with this whole Woke thing and we’re too deep in it I think, to get out of those waters, is that it Has to fall under its own weight it’s not sustainable not even in the near term it’s not sustainable I mean that’s the kind of thing that happens at the end of the countries shelf life
Was he supposed to vanquish his all his enemies in both parties and in the gigantic DC bureaucracies?
How do you propose he should have done that? Seriously, what would you have done?
The man was hounded for four years by a relentless attack from the Deep State and even resisted by people within his own party. Trump was up against an army of powerful forces determined to derail his presidency.
I have a hard time with him being characterized as a “loser” under the circumstances. It is a miracle that he accomplished as much as he did.
“Unless you are really very wealthy and can buy your way in, no outsider gets anywhere politically without working their way up some faction of the Republican or Democratic organization.”
Regardless how you get there you have to convince a majority of people to vote for you. There have been many billionaires, such a Bloomberg, Perot, Rockefeller, Mittens and other that didn’t make it.
Carter, Clinton, Obama, and even Sock Puppet were not exactly billionaires. They got there by working their way through the ranks and convincing enough people to vote for them.
And even the rich ones don’t pay for their elections. If they’re popular they’ll have PACs and donors pay for them.
And in a two party system like we have (because of winner take all elections), of course you have to work up your way through the ranks of either party. Trump was a bit of a fluke.
To me all this seems obvious and natural, but you seem to think it’s somehow nefarious??
