A woman attempted to smuggle two pounds of drugs into a Florida prison, officials said.
44-year-old Melissa Webster of Tallahassee brought her infant grandchild, and 100 grams of cocaine and heroin to a DeSoto Correctional Institution visitation on Sunday, according to a statement by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office (DSCO).
Webster was arrested when officers found the drugs during the check-in process.
A DCSO K9 conducted a "free air sniff" and found an additional 690 grams of heroin and cocaine in Webster’s vehicle in the parking lot.

So, she gets to stay?
I work at a Max prison, I see lots of things. People using their babies to sneak in drugs is common.
What an idiot.
Anyone carrying a baby, cocaine and heroin into an environment full of criminals should be carrying a gun too.
100 grams is a little less than a quarter off a pound. What was in her car is irrelevant.
“100 grams is a little less than a quarter off a pound. What was in her car is irrelevant.”
HUH?
The amount matters? Was it not ILLEGAL in her car?
Smuggling ANY AMOUNT of DRUGS into prison is illegal.
“an additional 690 grams of heroin and cocaine in Webster’s vehicle in the parking lot.”
Notice the word “ADDITIONAL”.
Possessing 690 grams of heroin and cocaine in your car is illegal.
Last I heard, heroin and cocaine are SERIOUS drugs, hardly irrelevant.
You can’t fix stupid
Not quite, there are warning signs when you enter prison properties. Once you enter the property limits you are fair game.
The way the story was written, she tried to smuggle 100 grams when she entered the prison. Not 2 pounds. Pay attention to details.
