That fraternity should be permanently disbanded, and everyon involved should be criminally prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law.
I’m guessing that fraternity isn’t a very large one.
They should be hit with every charge the DA can find to hit them with.
Why no pictures of the perps?
I wonder if these frat boys would try doing this to a guy who is 6’6” and 300 pounds?
Is Hollywood still making Van Wilder movies?
I’m sure they all had seen that episode in Animal House in which Belushi downed an entire bottle of fake whiskey in one gulp. So, they figured that doing it in real life wouldn’t be a problem.
I once drank a liter of vodka and my breathing got so messed up and if not for me getting sick, the adults would have taken me to the ER. I feel badly for this young man...
That’s not hazing, it’s assault and battery and attempted manslaughter.
I pledged my local fraternity in 1987. There was no alcohol involved until after pledging was done and we were celebrating as new actives, and it was a party at a bar.
This crap has no place in a pledging program.
Something seriously wrong with them
I’ll be the odd man out here. The supposed victim is also to blame and maybe the parents if they’re also alma mater of the same school or sorority or encouraged him to join.
Wanting to be in a sorority is nothing more than BS status look at me crap. Doing what you’re told to join one when you know it ain’t right and can have consequences which are obvious here. The kid made bad choices period.
Someone gives me a fifth and tells me to drink it I probably would over the course of a couple months.
No one can make you drink it down, no one can make you take anything or do anything unless you choose to... Your choice.. no one else’s.
A family sized bottle of vodka? Is that such a thing? Does one go shopping for vodka for the whole family?
The two are definitely not “college material” not that that means anything anymore. This crime will be “some people did some things”(ed) and nothinged.
How about a class on not going on the sidewalk.
Where would Americans be without the British press to publicize our pathologies?
Amy Winehouse died with a BA of .42 alcohol poisoning ......
never have understood “pledging” anyhow.... i certainly would NOT do something that would put me in danger, i guess you have to be a people pleaser to get into it.
I wouldn’t call it the worst ever since quite a few have died from hazing events.
What a tragedy! I can’t imagine the grief the parents are experiencing.
Phi Gamma Delta - I think I’ve heard of them. Oh, wait. Fiji. Well known for their parties a half century ago.
And this is the reason why I sent my daughter to the local community college for the first two years and she lived at home. The second two years was at a local for your college and she moved in with another professional female across town. I’ve always said 18 years old is way too young to send anybody halfway across the country to live with a bunch of other 18-year-olds outside a Structured environment. for example, the military.
