Participating on a forum that covers current events causes
us to be far more aware than the average person.

There are people out there working who do not spend time
reading about issues like we do.

For all they know, the CDC, the NIH, and the WHO are still
the pristine information centers they used to be. Well,
they aren’t.

They don’t know about the problems with COVID, because
someone with authority has never mentioned those problems
from an MSM platform.

It’s the same problem with Trump and with Biden.

The people who work hard from nine to five, sometimes
choose to tune out alternate news sources. They hear
only what the MSM deigns to tell them.

That’s how some of them become and remain so ill informed.

And I might add, even if they work in health care.

They get “the party line” straight from the government,
and simply do not consider anything else might be out
there of value on the subject.

Yes, that was an article where the writer was paid by the word.

FR was an invaluable clearing house during the pandemic. It was also a demolition derby of theories, analysis, and opinion. As hard as it can be to remember, back in Feb 2020 there were as many FReepers who thought it was TEOTWAWKI as there were who thought it was just the flu.

Within that demolition derby, a refinement and tightening of a worldview emerged. More data and articles were posted on FR including pieces out of The Lancet, Science, NEJM, and Babylon Bee that CNN, Fox, MSLSD, and virtually every other media outlet combined couldn't have matched in terms of clarity, analysis, and directness. That content wasn't always accurate, but that free marketplace of ideas allowed Truth to emerge. If that wasn't awesome enough, Nully's ping list and DoughtyOne's daily data posts and other "citizen reporting" deepened an already vast reservoir of compelling content.

Candidly, the writer's "why" question doesn't require War & Peace. One of the most magnificent contemporary pieces was written by Jeffrey Snyder, A Nation of Cowards. While the piece is overtly about concealed carry, it is much broader than that. To wit:

Is your life worth protecting? If so, whose responsibility is it to protect it? If you believe that it is the police's, not only are you wrong -- since the courts universally rule that they have no legal obligation to do so -- but you face some difficult moral quandaries. How can you rightfully ask another human being to risk his life to protect yours, when you will assume no responsibility yourself?...One who values his life and takes seriously his responsibilities to his family and community will possess and cultivate the means of fighting back...He will never be content to rely solely on others for his safety, or to think he has done all that is possible by being aware of his surroundings and taking measures of avoidance.

What Snyder wrote applies literally to every situation under the sun, not just thieves in the night or bad dudes in an alley but bureaucrats in lab coats and college faculty in sport coats. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. That's what most of us on FR practice.

As the meme goes, one does not simply become Deplorable over night. Sure, it's easy to see the immorality of what was going on. It may have been easy to say "this is stupid...the masks are stupid...lockdowns are stupid..." But, as difficult as it may be for people who've had a Framer's mindset all their life, noobs don't just follow up that new attitude with the ninja-like thought process and access to information to facilitate a successful redpilling in an instant. That process takes some time.

Those of us with a Snyder-like mindset that's exercised often, must not only resist forgetting about the Royal Scam, but start red-pilling anyone who starts engaging in Mindcrime, and reveals that he/she started thinking that the past two years were a Scam. We will need their participation in the demolition derby next time.
