We raise Treeing Walker Coon Hounds and Plott Hounds for hunting raccoon and bear. Beau has had exactly ONE ‘oops’ pregnancy in all of his years of owning dogs of both sexes, so 47 years.
Males get neutered if they are too aggressive; you don’t want aggression in your bloodline. He never spays the females because you never know when you might need a womb. A lot of the breeding with purebreds no longer happens ‘the old fashioned way’ which would seem to be no fun for all parties involved, LOL!
