@ggreenwald
Trump's failure to pardon Assange and Snowden was one of the worst and most cowardly mistakes he made. Few realize how close he was to doing it. He got scared by threats from GOP Senators that they'd vote for impeachment if he did it.

Anyone threatening me would have their and their family’s lives on the line and would know it immediately. You don’t cower to threats, you go make your own!
Big words from a man who is NOT being threatened by the likes of the alphabet agencies who can kill as overtly or covertly as they wish. When there is no safe place.

“Oh really stupid little script kiddie? Last time you shot your ignorant little mouth off you got embarrassed. I see you are a a glutton for punishment.”
No, Sunshine, you did, but you’re immaturity knows no bounds.
“Big words”
We are all under the threat. You’re just a coward who has already made up her little mind that nothing can be done so she might as well just run to the end of her chain and bark, just not too loudly.
Conspired? No.
Manning stole the info on his own, then took the info to Assange—after the fact.
If Assange was a reporter for the NYT we know there would be no alleged crime here because that scenario has played out multiple times.
But, because Assange was an independent, the US is claiming he’s not a journalist and thus not covered by the first amendment.
Would the UK extradite someone to the US for a murder committed in Sweden? No. How about a rape committed in Sweden? Again, no.
The crime has to be committed under US jurisdiction.
Manning stole the info on his own. He then took the info to Assange--after the fact. Assange did not conspire with Manning to steal the info.
This would make more sense if they were extraditing him to Sweden or Australia (he is an Australian citizen).
Australia probably has a treaty with Australia about keeping each other's military secrets (they are close military allies). It's likely Assange could be charged for breaking Australian law in this matter, but then he should be tried in Australia, not the US.

No I am wondering why conservatives tear each other down an never back and support each other. Instead of whining about how Trump didn’t do... perhaps figuring out how to provide safety and shade to those those who risk all might be a better and braver stance.
I watch leftists do it all the time.
My position is that if the US government is doing something wrong, as long as it comes out, it doesn't matter which power helps. Wrong is wrong. If you don't violate the Constitution and run an immoral foreign policy, you don't have to worry about Russia or China finding it out (and to be honest, I don't see Russia as a natural adversary of the USA, but China is. Russia is only in that position because the US leadership stupidly forced them into it).
