Not 100% certain where Polk County is (I believe it to be in Georgia and there may be more than one), but this sounds like a Florida story.

Servicemember at a command was widowed rather unexpectedly. He started hearing naughty bits, located her journal kept over 10 years of marriage and had the headstone order changed, removing any reference to his family name, put in for and was granted a transfer.
Nobody heard the entire story, however it was right about the time the “Let’s Give Them Something To Talk About by Raitt (the commie b****)... everybody was talkin!
