Watching the Bums Fight
Taki's Magazine ^ | 30May 2022 | The Z Man

Posted on 06/14/2022 8:19:18 AM PDT by arthurus

From a dissident perspective, watching the fights within what they still insist on calling the conservative movement is a lot like watching a bum fight. The two journeymen fighters are paired up to see who will get to be the champ’s next victim. The fight may be entertaining, as long as you do not think too much about the fact that neither guy has a future beyond being a punching bag for the elite fighters.

These disputes are not without value. Granted, what comes from them will never be a genuine alternative to the progressive orthodoxy, but it offers some insight into what went wrong with American liberal democracy. One reason we conduct autopsies is to better understand what to avoid in the future.

A thoughtful and well-written commentary/perspective.
Many thanks for calling it to attention. Cheers!

Some progressives wear R jersey camouflage.
All the open borders/amnesty Republicans are stealth progressives.

Thats not an easy read.

It ends with:

... Culturally, America is so distant from the 1980s, when the movement of conservatism hit its stride, we may as well be on an alien planet. The left has transformed America in every conceivable way while conservatism acquiesced to every innovation. The solution, of course, is to accept that there is nothing left to conserve and therefore conservatism is as relevant as Whiggism. Interesting as a means of understanding how we have arrived at this dismal state, but otherwise it is something that belongs in the museum of failed political movements. For dissidents, it is a warning about the wages of accommodating the original sins of progressivism.

So are we still Conservatives? Am I an ideologue anymore? I don't know.

The Third Rail that conservatives fail to touch is race and sex realism. This is what is hinted at in the essay.

Progressives and conservatives agree that at some point in the future if the right things are done then equality among the sexes and races will be achieved.

They only differ on what things need to be done. Progressives want to force a false state of equality as soon as possible. Conservatives naively believe that if everyone has equality of opportunity then eventually the two sexes and all of the races will achieve parity.

The science suggests otherwise, so that is why we are trapped in Lysenkoism with regard to sex, gender, race, climate, health policy, etc.

Individually we can talk among ourselves about how men and women are different or different cultures are more or less good at long term goal setting. However, our leaders can never add two and two together and get four or else be banned from the public square.

For those interested in the thoughts of the dissident right (also called NRx or neo-reaction) there are many YouTube channels to choose from. Many have had to tone down what they say on YouTube, but have alternative channels on BitChute, etc. with their spicier stuff.

Russell Kirk argued that conservatism should not be an ideology. Conservatives were better served by identifying a set of principles to stand for and then acting accordingly.

His list is on the interwebs. He was a fierce opponent of both libertarianism and neoconservatism which he saw as false ideologies.

One of many reasons I'm not a "conservative" (whatever that actually means).

E Michael Jones is an antisemitic pro-Iran (even to the point of visiting the regime in Tehran) quack. His theories of how middle class urban Catholics were “ethnically cleansed” ignores the reality of upward mobility and the GI bill as the main pull factors away from decaying urban neighborhoods. As for Jared Taylor, his cryptonazi stench is well known. Can’t say much about the others.

Sweet and goes down well when spiked with rum.

Having parents and extended family who grew up on the mileau that Michael Jones describes, I can tell you that there was no conspiracy - suburbanization took a lot of people out of the Catholic ghetto before “white flight” went on steroids in the 1960s and 70s (unless a new wave of immigrants came, as was the case with my dad’s nabe with the Portuguese and Hispanics). Once boomer Catholics assimilated they behaved like other Americans and became more secular. Of course I haven’t mentioned Vatican II and it’s impact either.
