We hear plenty of reasons for the perfect storm that imploded California. One-party, progressive government, of course. Decades of unchecked illegal immigration, without doubt. Years of mass flight out of state of the productive middle classes, certainly.
But perhaps the most important, but overlooked, reason has been the infusion of trillions of dollars of mostly tech capital into the state. Unimaginable sums of market capital warped politics and led to a top-down, feudal society, run by progressive elites who are shielded from the ramifications of their own toxic ideologies.

Californians are about to reelect Gavin Newsom so they have not learned their lesson. They are lost.
Worse yet, those lucky enough to flee the California Hell Hole just end up in a RED state bringing ALL THEIR STUPID LIBERAL IDEAS WITH THEM.
NO, people in or from California will NEVER learn. In their case, STUPID is ingrained and generational.
I don’t know how many Californians are really voting for what they have and how much is stacked against them that it cannot be fixed.
Since I grew up in the Bay Area, I was able to center our conversation on that area. However, as we were flying into DFW, he said, "you've got a lot of water here."
I gave him a brief lesson on Texas geography, telling him there is only one natural lake of size in Texas, Caddo Lake, the rest are man made. I closed by saying, "I guess Texans aren't as stupid as you think."

I have grown up with, “California leads the nation.” If they can’t get out from under rigged elections, it does not bode well.

It’s not only selfishness. It’s lack of empathy and understanding of basic needs. The tech world is full of people who are emotionally stunted. They are not Autistic, but their ability to relate to and care about others is sorely lacking. They also are not that bright. They understand the virtual, imaginary, global, digital world they live in, but they don’t know much about anything else. In their world everything is solved or corrected by amending 1’s and 0’s. In the real world where it takes physical labor and hard commodities to create and function, they are clueless. I know a few of these types. They are an interesting group.

That is the truth. You can blame the rich leftist elites for ruining the place, but at the end, it’s the millions of useful idiots who put them in power that deserve the blame.

In the old days, well before Silicon Valley, students obtained their college spending from the weeks spent working the melon and other fields in the Imperial Valley. That was when college was affordable and California was indeed the Golden State. As VDH, our Jeremiah, is well aware, those days are long gone. Hell,California isn’t even tarnished silver these days.

I began to suspect our elections when, even while the increasing cost of living here continued to skyrocket, each and every tax and bond spending proposal continued to pass the vote like clockwork. Without fail. It is simply not credible.
